Sonic Timeworks L.L.P. today announced the Sharc One - Timeworks Recording Channel plug-in for Creamware's Scope Fusion Platform.
Sharc One is a complete recording channel plugin.
With the availability of cheap hi-quality 24bit A/D converters and preamps it is now possible to record with a very high quality at a modest cost. But good analog compressors and eq's are still as expensive as ever, so you'll end up paying as much for a complete recording channel as you do for a Scope card with 15 Sharc dsp's. This is where the Sharc One comes in:
With the hi-end Timeworks dsp algorithms you get everything from super transparent compression, to desirable "breathing & pumping", and the sound-sculpting possibilities of the 64bit Perfect Analog Simulation VintagEQ that is unique to the platform.
The Sharc One is available in both stereo and mono versions. It has a fixed signal path:
LowCut filter -> Expander -> Compressor -> EQ -> Softclip limiter
The compressor is based on the highly respected CompressorX algorithm, with selectable hard/soft knee compression curves, and both RMS & peak level detection circuit. There's also a new analog style VU-meter, with peak/overload detection LED, switchable to display gain reduction or input/output levels.
The 4-band equalizer is based on the VintagEQ analog algorithm.
With high/low shelving, 2 parametric mids, and 15dB's of cut'n'boost.
The limiter allows you to increase the perceived level (loudness) of the signal without causing digital distortion. Instead it simulates analog saturation by using a softclip algorithm.

The entire line of Timeworks plugins for Creamware SFP has been updated to version 3.2, now available on http://www.sonictimeworks.com as a free maintenance update.
