I am a perfectionist, therefore I created a new version of my recently posted Mod 3 Patch Vintage String Ensemble. This is a slightly modified version. Also, I included a Modular 2 version of the patch for who did not upgrade to Mod 3 yet. However, it is not tested in a Mod 2 only environment. I hope it works.

The modifications I made are:

a) The patch now has 3 Uknow oscillators to use the all the pulse OSCs to create a more radical string ensemble effect. Check the preset Full Ensemble.

b) The random signal generator and filter envelope are gone.

c) I added a simple highpass filter and a free filter bank before the effects section to further tweak the sound. I found interesting settings using the filter bank, like the preset Mellotron Strings. If I pass the ensemble sound thru the filter with an maximum resonance (Q) it sounds like the strings of a Mellotron. It does not have the character of the original but is close

d) For the Mod2 version I use a Multimode filter instead of the Poly as the main filter.

Note 1: Since the phaser output is wired one channel straight to the micro mixer and the other to the delay effect you have to be careful to attenuate the volume of the channel that comes from the phaser to match the volume of the channel that comes from the delay line.

Note 2: There are two examples on zipped MP3s. Both use the Full Ensemble patch, but one is passed thru the modular phaser and the other thru an Electroharmonix Small Stone phase shifter. For me, I stay with the last one!

I almost forgot: thanks to Mr Arkadin for his information on the Sound On Sound Magazine. I used the theory there for this patch too!

This patch sounds very cool! I especially dig the mellotron presets. Thanks

This is a beautiful patch, dangerous, you loose a lot of time just playing it...it's really vintage!
