You never would have got all that you wanted, because the men in suits cannot concede everything without it being an admission of defeat (been there too, on both sides of the table). The fact that you came "damn close" to getting everything is a huge victory, whilst still allowing the bosses to save face and stay "the boss". It's a very positive outcome indeed.
The fact that you were getting grief due to ignorance can now be put to one side. By communicating, both sides are no longer ignorant to each other's positions.
The next 3 month trial seems to be a bluff to me. They want to see if you were using lots of "words" or are really sincere and true to what you said. It also allows them the chance to remain your superiors.
Again, I've been on both sides of the table for that.
The acid test now, in my opinion is that, with the ignorance out of the way, will those people be more understanding, will they listen, will they keep you in the loop or put themselves into your loop?
I think you've done better than you think, but of course only you know the full story and only time will tell.

I like & agree with PaulrMartins thought for the day too. I just read a good line too - "God has never made second-rate anything, so today you're special"
