So, what would you do with 100.000 American dollars?
What would you do with 100.000$?

put 50,000 in 10 year time deposit, throw the other half into mutual funds. And then after 10 years, I'd put 100,000 in a 10 year time deposit, and throw the rest into mutual funds. 100,000 is good to start making money with, but it's not good to spend. I'd start spending when it reaches 1,000,000. (grin)
Or, maybe I'd go to school if I can afford it. (just about enough for 3 years of grad school) I am applying for grad school by the way.

I would start by giving half of it to my family, which well deserves it.
The other half will be to buy a house, somewere I like, and the rest to build a great studio, including a comple of SCOPE DP, and I will get to work harder than ever to earn my living...
Tomorrow I may die sooner than expected...

Ok, gentlemen. If you are not too demanding you can live a half of life for that amount of money here - let's say in a 100 000 citizen town:
- a flat (60m2): 16000 Euros
- a Renault Thalia class car: 8000 Euros
- fuel - 1200 Euros/year
- food per year - 2000 Euros
- clothes - 200 Euros/per year is more than enough
- Entertainment (cinema, theatre, pub) 1000 Euros/year
- TV set, stereo, books, cds, dvds - 300 Euros/year
- holidays - 300 Euros/year
Total: 29000 for a year of quite comfortable living. Some money can work for me in a fund so I think it would be enough for 10 years (you don't buy a flat every year, don't you?). Of course I forgot to list here telephone, energy bills etc but they don't change the situation too much

Well,
after spending so much money over the years on synths, hardware, software and lots of other gadgets, I would have to become a nice guy and let my long-suffering wife have the first choice.
I wouldn't buy any more music gear. As I wrote this I had a change of heart
I'd get a mega powerful pc and as much DSP power on board as possible. No new synths or effects etc though - I'll master what I've got first.
A new mountain bike for the missus too.
For me - I'd rent out a cottage in the Highlands of Scotland and stay in it until I'd completely stopped smoking. That would give me a few more years to enjoy the rest of the money.
And I'd have an open house for Planet Z guys - a big party come workshop where we could pool our skills for a few days (until the drink ran out).

You buy things for these prices there? Man, I'm gonna move there! If you are not too demanding you can live a half of life for that amount of money here - let's say in a 100 000 citizen town:

What's the price of Scope/SP there?
With that money I'd get a house for my studio... but I guess it wouldn't be enough in that expensive country!

Got You! Yes, the prices are like that for those things but don't expect any cheaper Scope
So for some things we have lower prices but most of goods are at the price level you have or sometimes even more expensive! In addition our wages (or rather monthly payment) usually worse than in western Europe (the usual is 450 Euros brutto)

Yea, when something comes from abroad, it is always more expensive... When I wanted to buy an Antec 1080 case for my new system, the price came to be about 500$!!! This was madnes. Transport, taxes, etc., made it imposible.
Of course, something like a SCOPE board is not so big or heavy, but you have to pay the comun price plus taxes and shipment, which mounts at about 20% more than getting in Europe.
