Extremely dangerous virus alert!!! Just in case, be careful!

I've received a mail from a close friend telling me he has been told about the existence of a new virus. He didn't confirm me its existence, but cos I don't know, I preffer to tell you all right now.

It can come from any address, even those you already have in your computer as being from people you know, with a big "HELP" on it.

Advice: Not to delete it but after 48 hours, not to pass your mouse over or opening it, cos this will cause the virus to excecute itself. It goes to the BIOS and then to all your drives, and deletes everything.

Is it possible? I think it is very difficult to build something that will just start an execute itself passing your mouse over it... but I don't mind to be stupid for a comple of hours till this is confirmed!

1) Anybody can send email with whoever as sender: NEVER TRUST THE SENDER NAME!

2) Only mouse-overing doesn't trigger anything (well, who knows when Micro$oft will invent a new feature preview_on_mouseover...

) Avoid Microsoft's email clients.

3) Regularly patch your windows (if it's networked)

If you receive such a mail, seek confirmation on known sites, like Spoimala posts, since most of the time they are a hoax (false alarm) or contain a virus.

Btw, when last week there was like 8 virusses in my email on one day, I deceided to engage the ISP anti-virus.

I've been sending myself viruses lately.

I use Mailwasher to filter out all the crap. The app connects to my mail server and I can see what I want to download from it. 1 message out of 30 usually is good...

There are several free antivirus programs out there in the world wild web. I use this one:

http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php

It run's in the background and checks my mail etc.

There are other programs, but I havn't had any problem with this one (yet) so I didn't see any reason to change it or try out any other programs.

What is it an ISP antirus atOmic? How does it work?

An ISP is an Internet Service Provider. Recently my ISP offered email scanning (also anti-spam), which scans the mails and filters infected files.
