You should be able right-click the link and save the target locally (worked for me).

Not really worth it, though - it's a video of somebody going pretty fast in a straight line

I like the breaks on that bike. It went from close to 300km/t to below 120km/t in about 6 seconds.

Considder this: 300km/t = 5km/m = 83m/s
I think a fast clicker can click twice on a stopwatch in about 6/100s. During that time, the bike will have travelled 5 meters.

Not sure about that one...it is a little 'James Bond'

The machine is a genuine Chrysler concept beastie though...an 8.2 litre V10 no less.

I have a honda huricane cbr 1000f
and I tell you after doing more than 280 km/h I decided its better to keep your eyes on the road than on the speedmeter(dont know the english word), the problem is not how fast you go but more how slow some people drive in the left lane.... an indeed the most scary part is the breaking.

I just read in an older book (from 1970) about neuropsychology, that it takes 10ms for an impulse to travel from the eye to the visual center in the brain. That is 83cm going 300km/h. Imagine that - you are 83cm ahead of your vision!

In the same book, it was stated, that human response time is around 100ms = 8,3 meters on the fast bike. Something happens 8 meters ahead of you, and you will react to it.

In the same book (again), it was said, that we need 500ms to be able to persieve a stimuli in a way that makes it able for us to be consious about it. It was believed, that the fact, that we can be consious about shorter happenings (like a flash from a camera), is sue to some kind of inerti keeping the impuls in processing for the 500ms. We can react physically to a stimuli before it is consious to us (the 100ms from before).

Uhm, I got off-topic. Anyway, I found it interesting reading.

Thanks. I was just wanting to mentally compare the required reaction times between a (baseball) batsman & a (cricket) batsman (facing a fast delivery). I reckon that they must be pretty similar.

I'm more with impacts

60 mls/h is your final speed when hitting ground from about 25 m height.

So if anything goes wrong for you riders (god beware!) try to leave the thing in the direction with the least obstacles.
Chances are that after a long flight most of the energy gets 'absorbed' and you only have to take the final drop down

btw my photo in the pics thread shows me after a very short flight from such a bike (Royston would call it a toy-bike) prematurely stopped by the branch of an oilive tree
