Some do. They only want good quality audio card, maybe with good i/o options, and are perfectly happy with VST - or even sequencer's own - effects and synths. This is not an entry level product - well maybe Luna is but that's more of an introduction to SFP, no one stays at 3DSP do they?
Mixdown (export Audio) question
Hello, i think that it is incredible, everytime i speak about this problem, someone brings the this discussion on another topic that is distant light years from the real topic.... i find it very strange... i'm not here to talk about how much are sfp devices good and cheap between all the others... strange... i'm very disappointed...

You say it's not so difficult but I think you're wrong. You can't "just" code a version of the plugins for CPU's. It would mean rewriting the entire software, because DSP's and CPU's probably require very different coding. To make them "perfectly identical" and be able to switch seamlessly between them for playback and mixdown...well I'm no programmer expert but I'd say it's not something that's either practical or possible, otherwise CW would have developed in that direction instead of the current XTC mode.On 2003-11-17 20:33, Chthonian wrote:
so, i understood that mixdown is not available with sfp or xtc mode. an idea could be that creamware creates a kind of xtc plug ins that in the playback work with dsp without using cpu and while mixing down are using cpu. i think that is not completely impossible if they create 2 kind of every of their plugins one for dsp and one for cpu perfectly identical and a program that exports all the various settings of the plugins of the song from the one that is on dsp to the other that works on cpu only for the mixdown!! i think that this is a good idea that is not too difficult to make work, if they make something like that, then they can really say that their plugins work really like vst plugins... it will be not the same but the result will be the same!
In order to do offline mixdown, the program is required to know where and what are the audio sources physically in harddrive (Audio files). Each sequencer programs might has different audio formats (in audio temp), it is not necessarily as wave, which only works within the program.
For example, I'm using Sonar, you're using Cubase and others might be using Logic and even live playing...How the Creamware tool supposes to know that what and when you try to do it (offline mixdown is this case?), unless you want to do it in realtime as standard Wave or ASIO...It is same way how to record the vocal, you must click record button to trigger the program, don't you?
So, all of these meant that the offline mixdown must be done by sequencer, what it is for. Keep in mind that on some of Seq-program, the offline does not print the mixing envelope dynamically as the realtime does.

I couldn’t agree more with you Garyb, just about everything you have said up here.
I just want to add something I have been saying since I have Pulsar:
“WE NEED TO KNOW OUR GEAR FROM BOTTON TO TOP AND FROM TOP TO BOTTOM”
¿How many presets have you done by yourself with your Synths?
¿How many innovative projects have you build?
¿How many combinations of FXs have you tried out?
Most people would have to give here a very poor answer (so would I).
Unfortunately, the power of such an incredible studio-solution is not used despite all its power.
For me Pulsar it is a matter of quality, and the quality of its sounds are great! A VSTi like Absynth, no doubt, has its power and use, it’s a great tool and it’s very useful, I would love something like this coming from Creamware, in terms of ergonomics and easy of use. Quality? This is another matter… Many very loved VST Synths sound like children toys, or sort of plastic if you like.
It is true that quality is a subjective thing, it its a matter of likes or dislikes, but I think there is an objective side about it too… It is perhaps difficult to explain, it is not as easy as saying: “This building is “bigger” than that one”, but the same reality exists.
I don’t mind to affirm VST plug-ins in general are of lower quality compared to SFP plug-ins, not only Synths, but in general all plug-ins, for me this is a very simple fact, I can hear it and so, don’t need anybody to tell me this is true or false.
The interesting thing with VST Synths is the wild variety of sounds and strange plug-ins.
It depends what people do with their system, Pulsar makes more or less sense. Sometimes people have far too many things, and they can’t appreciate what they have cos perceptions of sounds becomes a mess and you don’t longer know what you want. You know this happens for instance, when you take too much time choosing a preset, if you have heard about 300 of them already, you start loosing objectivity… well, in the same sense people can loose objectivity about their gear.
For me, there is one thing for Pulsar to be perfect, and this is another Pulsar…
Yes, I would just like to be able to one day have just 6 more DSPs, period!

you speak words of wisdom my friendFor me, there is one thing for Pulsar to be perfect, and this is another Pulsar…

This should be the Z's slogan...
"There's only one thing better than a Pulsar....
Two Pulsars!"
