Animated gifs and others

Hi,
Can anybody of you suggest me a way of transforming avi or mov films to animated gifs? I would prefer Mac soft (free) if possible. Or can anybody of you convert some files for me (about 1MB of files). I also would like to know how to make link buttons (gifs/jpgs) to transform if a mouse pointer is above one (you know - an off button transforms into an on button)

Image rollovers just need some simple html code, like this:

GraphicConverter by LembkeSoft (Shareware) can convert Quicktime movies to gif-films.
I'm not shure if there's an international version (it's German).

The item you need is found under the 'Ablage' (file) menu and is called 'Mehrfachkonvertierung...' (multiple conversion).
Pick the source file on the left column (ignore format settings - the program will autodetect whatever it can handle) and select 'GIF' from the 'Zielformat' (destination) popup.
Then click the 'Optionen...' button for the film settings.
To begin the conversion click the 'Starten' buttom in the top right part of the window - it's not where it's expected

I'm pretty shure there exist better solutions for film handling, so I mention it just in case nothing else pops up.
The tool might be handy one day (for example if a customer appears with a bunch of CAD documents) or even more unusual stuff as there's > 100 exotic formats.

btw Apple supplies this bundled with the new Powerbooks (and probably other machines as well).
I had the 'pleasure' to run it yesterday on the latest G4 1Gig PB (OSX Jaguar) in the company to cut out some parts from simple screenshots for a presentation.
The performance was ridiculuous, that wasn't a Power-, but a WhinoeBook

Thorsten is an experienced programmer and the converter is an almost classical Mac tool - no doubt about his talent at all.
But this clearly shows how difficult it is (can be) to program under Mac OSX

Just an info for those unpatiently awaiting CW's entry in the OSX world

Spirit, thanks for the example code - I have to read it deeply to understand (I don't know html but I know a bit of Pascal and it seems similar). I compose my page in Netscape composer so the code is real code for me, hehe.

Astro, the Graphic Converter is great! I know this app for ages but I always tried to prepare an animated gif another way (unsuccessfuly) - open a .mov; save as 'gif' - I got always a pile of frame files. Now it seems clear and I managed to prepare a working animated gif
