I really like it to see you so enthousiast, use your music love to do your very own thing, post some new tracks of your own to show what you do with your roots and skills.
Fusion types of pop or rock music on the one hand and electronic dance oriented music on the other are two ends of a very long line, they hardly can meet eachother somewhere.

There is taste, and there are some possible arguments to explain why someone loves or hate the one or the other.
Our tastes are clear, and my arguments (against those kind of videos specially) are given allready in that other drum thread.

Every time I see this type of video, one thing always remains:

I HATE DRUM SOLOS!

Unless they are accompanied by the other musicians on stage, a bass line or some kind of chord progression.

Yes, Jimbo is an excellent drummer but I prefer ensemble work to an individual bashing skins all by himself.

On the subject of skin bashing, Doudou N'Diaye Rose is what I listen to when I want to hear only rhythm.

Great post Hubird. True, there are deep reasons for somebody to love or dislike something, no doube about it. Nevertheless, and despite the fact between trance music and fusion music there is a big step forward, I did come to joine both toguether...

I'll be posting some of this essay. I did not post it before, because I had problems with my internet providers, and could not upload songs. Fortunately, now I can again, so I'll be posting some of this new style I have called: Trance-Fusion Hope you like it.

I understnad it Paul. I have played some drum and quite a lot of percution, and this is perhaps why I have such a huge interest in this kind of things. I really enjoy. Not all of them, but the jazzy ones, ufff, I do.

If you know about bass solos in the net, please, let me know, I would love to go there... I have several good links about bass stuff, but not something with videos. I would like particularly some from Jaco Pastorious.

Good naming, I even have a sample cdrom called Trancefusion

I used lotsa samples from it in the past.

I actually like drum solos, but for me they need to be narrative, well constructed pieces not improvised or merely groove-based demonstrations of technique.

They should also have some balls, which I find the Akira one sadly lacking in.

I was kinda into it until the solo started. In this day and age I wonder why drummers don't use totally electronic kits. I want to hear ethnic and strange spacey sounds, also there should be a lot of tuned stuff which can be played in a melodic way. I rate this video a 2 out of 10.

This is the page of one of my favourites of the band, but all around a lot of very decent and free legal mp3's. It's hosted on the keyboard player's site. he also does nice stuff....i would recommend all that comes before 1976.

To hear a great drum intro check the track "La Mela di Odessa".

Maybe some people just love the sound of standard drums, I don't understand this especially the cymbals which have so many frequencies that they make it difficult to hear the other musicians. Why would anyone use such a nasty sound when playing in a group?
