Hi,
Im building a DAW, and would like to know what would be the best route for performance/stability.

So far I have:

ASUS P4T-E mobo
Northwood 2.0a processor
Western Digital HDD 8mb cache(x2) WD1200JB x WD1600JB
 **** **** ****
Windows XP Pro

To complete I need:

Video Card (AGP) (Matrox G450 32mb)?
Memory (RDRAM)?
DVD Multi-Format Writer/Reader (LG GSA-4040)?
Floppy Drive?
Zip Drive?

Case? (Wish I could find a rackmount about 16" deep, or a desktop to modify into an audio rack)

 **** **** ****

Any suggestion, on items Im looking at, or need would be greatly appreciated!

Also, What do you think would be the best way of going about seting up my computer? Overclocking, or not?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

First thing first, i think there is a big typo in your list:

The delta1010 should have been read as 'PowerPulsar Zlink + A16U'

I do have this mobo with a 1.6 ghz overclocked @ 2.138ghz. Works flawlessly. Eventually I will upgrade to a 2.6 and overclock it as much as I can (3,1ghz). I believe you can even safely overclock the fsb to 533 but I have no experience with that... You may check this site:

I also have a matrox dual screen and I love it! If you already have your cpu forget about overclocking the fsb...

Great Mobo!

Got one in my DAW and it works fine.

The only problem is that the RDRAM is still pretty expensive, so I have still not upgraded from my 512mb yet

I have a pIV 1.8 overclocked to 2g - works fine.

My video card is a Matrox G550, which is superb. Not had any problems with that really.

Case wise, I bought a fairly cheep Aluminium case but I have lined the entire thing with 'Dynomat' - a car audio acoustic dampening material which cuts out some noise from the machine. Also, all of the fans in the computer were bought from quietPC.com, so there are all quiet as you like. Even the power supply is from quietPC.

All in all, you can barely hear the machine when it is switched on, which meens I can have it on in the same room as I am recording in (I am a post production sound engineer so I am not over exaggerating).

So this is a good machine, which works rock solid.

Just ask if you want a full breakdown of the computer.

What about Hyper-threading with this board???, is there any way to enable this function with a BIOS upgrade or something???
