Finally a tb303 emu that sounds like the real thing..

Hi all,

Not sure if this has been around these forums or not, but I stumbled accross a little device from Audiorealism and let me just say from first hand experience, this thing sounds amazing, very very real, of course some styles of sound can be a little VSTi'sh, but there are some very convincing demos.

The site also provides A/B's against the real TB303 and the sound is spot on, I have owned a real tb303 for ide say the last 7 years so I know the sound pretty well I think, and I just purchased this item off the demos alone, ill post a demo once its in my hands for a bit, here is a link to the site..

Have a listen and you be the judge, there also some artists who are known in the electronic scene for being large users of tb303s and they post in the forums, a nice touch

Just thought I would share incase any one wanted a nice little device at a modest price, and best of all, it has a step sequencer built into the unit and its VSTi capable.

Sounds incredible. Too expensive though... IMHO Rebirth is good enough.

I personaly am starting getting a bit tyred of soooooooo many similar kind of synths... There are too many emulation of the same sort...

I'm glad of course, if you like 303 kind of sounds and all that, but I personaly don't feel motivated for "any" common or normal analog synth any more. I have all I need already.

Well I can certainly understand the ben there done that for such a device, but to be honest, I just sold my tb303 on ebay for a grand $$$, this is a fine replacement for a device I didnt use all that much in the last couple of years, though it was nice owning it for about 6-7 years hehe.

What can ya say, for $98.00 this is a nice item to have, well that is if you like 303 style sounds

Just trying to be informative incase any one wanted such a device that was in VSTi form..

They have an informative site, comparison sounds, a reasonable price (just imho) and a totally smooth way to order

I like the 303 sounds but why the primitive interface? I understand that it sounds good but what I don't understand is why it has to mimic the original exactly in function and with no major improvements. Maybe this is good for marketing it but to me it is idiotic. I think nearly everyone in this group enjoys the sound of old synths but please engineers (if any are reading this), try to be at least a little more original and creative.

It's because if he didn't make it exactly the same, then people would complain that it *wasn't* a 303 - because a big part of the 303 sound is the fact that it's so limited, and the step-seq, accents and envelopes with their particular shape contribute hugely to the sound.

If you don't like it, theres about 28430935 other softsynths with more advanced features.. you could go and use any of them instead of complaining about this one. The guy who created this thing set out with the challenge of emulating it as closely as possible.. if that doesn't impress you, there's plenty of other people who *are* impressed.

Actually,

It does have more features than meets the eye on first glance, one MAJOR one being that you can play the synth from a keyboard and the velocity acts as the "accent" and running notes ala portamento acts as the "bend" function, this is HUGE, that means you can create patterns and bends only dreamed of before with a 303, imagine long bending modulated lines with out the limitations of the original 303's 16 note sequencer.

Another big function is the way the step sequencer works, there are I belive off hand 100 sequences, each note on your keyboard triggers a sequence, with middle C being around sequence 46? You play the desired note(seuqnece) in your host and write it to midi, then can load custom CC maps for any function you would like.

Throw in a great emulation and built in distrotion and I think this is one is going to be huge in the community some day, im glad I stumbled on it now before it gets used to death.

After owning a 303 for so many years I gotta say, this device does a fantastic job of emulating its sound, far better than anything I have heard to date.
