Just out of interest could you clarify which Mac you have (ie model, memory size, speed - anything else you can think of) and also which OS (you are running OS9.2.2 i assume). Also are you still stuck in classic mode?

I've got a similar system - G4/400, sonnet 800MHz Encore/ST card and have no probs. Perhaps the SCSI card? For sure it affects PCI performance but rather doesn't spoil the Pulsar at all. I once had an Adaptec 2940 card and my system behaved ok unless I went to OSX where the SCSI card caused drastic performance speed. But this was OSX. Gary's right, sometimes basic things help like reseating the card.
You can check your sync settings in Scope. It should be master if nothing is connected to the digital input (or if it is but off)

And at the end (before the mouse meal) you can zap the pram and rebulid desktop. This can be done with TechTool lite: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/5995

Sorry for the break in transmission...
Sometimes I've got to work to pay the bills, instead of wasting my time enjoying making music. Cruel life.
Well, the solution I've found. My mouse was difficult to digest -just kidding.
Right, so reinstalling a new system over the old one didn't work. But.... Using a macosX install disc, I've formated the partition on which the faulty setup was installed -that you cannot do with OS90 installation, you can only format the hole drive.
Reinstallation, blahblah... :
WORKING!!! Everyting back in place, and working fine.
So, what could have been the cause? I strongly suspect that something went wrong with the arborescence on this partition, knowing that the OS was not the problem.
Then what can have modified that?
Could suspect my SCSI chain, 'cause it's a bit busy: S2000>S3000>A4000>CDR>CDR>ZIP>MO>Computer.
But what the h*ll would it do to an IDE partition?
Conclusion, I don't know, but it's working that's just enought for me.
Many thanks for all your help.

ARGHHHH!!!!
It did it again!!!!! Can't f***in believe it....
But this time I nailed down the problem: it came after using an AKAI CD.
The next reboot after that I lost again the menu bar, a magic :/D folder appeared etc...
The AkaiCD is read on a SCSI CD player in the computer (plugged on the "inside" SCSI connector of a SCSI card) by a samper outside the computer (connected trough the outside SCSI connector). I know It's a seriously twisted setup, but it worked normally... until scope 4.0.
I think I'm going to downgrade to 3.1.

Not nice of making fun of SCSI disabled people..
Yes of course, the solution is to get rid of it, but then how do I communicate with dear samplers?? Can't live without them. And even if you're an STS5000 fanatic, you've got to admit that it doesn't have all the capacities of a good proper hardware sampler (not mentionning that if you've got only 3 or 4 DSP, you don't go far).
If someboby wants to buy some S2000 and a A3000, I'll get a S5000 that works with USB link. But anyway I don't really want to do that, cause I'm still in love with my S2000s
Is there a lot of you guys using Akai format disc to organise or pile sounds in conjunction with a CW card?
