Clever new compressor

Looks very interesting - one can set-up many bands of compression, based on the level of the audio and apply different compression rules to each band.

I'm downloading the demo for a trial run! The complete manual and some tutorial material is also available from their website

Mac & PC versions are available.

hopefully not - it's the most 'unmusical' description of specs I ever read

(unless I completely missed the point...)

And it doesn't take much to split up a soundsource into several 'level' bands, apply whatever processing, and mix them together again - in Modular possibly(?).

Imho it's the perfect device for the I already have everything, what's up next ? or the ...need something to distinguish my 3rd copy of kind of guy.

I'm actually not sure what the point is as it's quite a different approach to compressing a sound source.

Methinks that wouldn't give you the same results - the sound source isn't spilt-up and mixed back together...it's the same sound source experiencing different compression settings depending on its level.

I'm going to suck it and see! Might be interesting... Doubt I'm going to buy it anytime soon, though as I'm definitely not in the "I have everything" bracket. Some new shoes are higher up the list...

imho it reads like the velocity mapping of a sampler
...Neodynium lets you break your audio levels up into "zones" so you can control them exactly how you want...
you could apply anything, why not compression - the idea isn't exactly groundbreaking ... but it's cleverly packaged - I like good marketing

A lot of us clearly have more than enough software and hardware to last a lifetime. Of course as computers and the os chnage the old stuff won't work and we will have to replace everything... doh!

Its interesting (and potentially useful) for extreme processing of loops and tracked audio if you're into the effects it can create. What scares me though--somewhere someone is going to try to use this with an Linearband eq on every channel because its 'better'.
