Just wanted to say that the Magma is working better than I ever expected. It is so great to be able to pack everything into a briefcase and go.

I wonder if Creamware has ever considered making a portable SCOPE system to sell (put a card inside a box and hooking to the computer via the Cardbus, , like a Magma but their own solution instead)?

It seems like it could be a popular thing for them to offer, especially if they could sell if for cheaper than what you have to pay for a Magma solution (hopefully much cheaper).

Okay. So I've been using my Precision M60 for a while now. It's worked fine, I've been getting decent performance, but as I've grown into my Scope/PulsarII setup, I now find that I've pushed all of my projects to the point where I'm taxing the PCI buss and can't get any work done. Right now, most projects are using 18ASIO channels and 1 (maybe) Masterverb Pro or P100LitePCI.

But if I'm using any of the newer devices (like MiniMax, UberPlastic, D-Filter, echo3, P100, etc.), I tend to cross over the threshold and error out until I make 10-15 different tweaks, and sometimes, even then, I'll have to come back to it, after I've calmed down and start paring away FX and channels.

In the end, I've gotten into shouting matches with my laptop, and that's no way to work happily. So I thought, perhaps, it was time to rethink things a bit.

Then I see this awful thing.

I say it's awful because now it will creep into my every thought until I've tested it out.

It's an Athlon64 using the nForce3150 Mobile motherboard; for those who don't want to check it out. Oh, and it also has a TI Cardbus controller and a screen at the perfect resolution for that size LCD - 1680x1050. The 1920x1440 is a little to small for a 15.4" And it's pretty damn cheap, comparitively.

Now I don't really bank on Compaq quality these days (so sad..., so sad), but I'm going to see if I can fanagle a test with it at my local Best Buy or Microcenter.

It could very well be wishful thinking, but I think this might do quite nicely.

Anyone else see any other nForce-based laptops?

I didnt read all this topic,i just ask: how is the performance of a "good" Laptop, when you use the battery?Of course i want Pulsar in a magma box,cubase with 16 tracks and plugins,so
how is it ,can i use this thing without a power point and still have fun(endless mobilility )?

You will not be able to run the Magma off of the laptop battery as it uses it's own power-supply. You might be able to get a portable battery pack with AC sockets, but your mileage will vary on how many cells the battery contains and what the storage material is (i.e. Lithium, Nickel-Metal Hydride, Nickel-Cadmium, etc.).
