Hey people, just finished watching the semi Portugal x France. Yes, we lost, but I still want to say a few things:

1: Congrats France and Italy, may the best of the two win the cup, and have a great party tonight (really). It's nice to know that maybe tonight no Parisian moron will shoot at my countrymen. I'd trade that for a world cup anyday!

2. It's surprising to see the English support the French. I hope it's a score for world peace, and not just sour feelings for having a player expelled for kicking a colleague in the balls. Remember, it's the World Cup, not the world war... And yes, Cristiano IS a top player, Rooney just as good...

3. The french cried out foul play from the Portuguese, but they learned their lesson very well: Henry and Ribery should be nomitated for the Oscar (or maybe the Palme d'Or).

4.I want to send out a warm compliment to Germany (very unlucky against Italy), you've been great hosts to us, and the rest of the world. I hope that the 3rd/4th place game in Stuttgart will be a very friendly one, and that we can make a joint party after, whatever the result.

Now, aside from the world cup, and dedicated to all players and artists in the world, here's a reminder: you can't cheat the devil with shadowplay: Shine a light, shine a light, shine a light... In time you'll know what I mean, if you don't already!

Cheers everyone, and let's make the music that brings the world together (France and Italy can join in later).

I thought Portugal didn't play too well - strangely they got progressively worse as the tournament went on. France were in control of the game IMHO.

Personally I think the English campaign against Ronaldo is way over the top, and is typical of the way this country buries its head in the sand about what the real problems were

Having said that Portugal were diving a lot tonight. I don't think I'd blame Portugal though, it's a widespread problem and I think it's FIFA's fault for being so stupid with refereeing and rules.

Yes he is a world class player but he's also a blatant cheat and he spends too much time poncing about rather than getting on with the game. As a form of celebration my desktop today is a tiled image of Ronaldo blubbing like a baby. Boo-hoo!

Having watched the game last night it seemed like Portugal didn't really try to win it. Even 1-0 down, in a situation where they have to score they didn't get forward particularly.

Anyway, hopefully Sunday's game will be a good one. This championship deserves at least one cracker of a match.

I think most players are cheats these days. It's not like English players don't dive - Michael Owen won many penalties that way.

Also, Rooney himself stated that Ronaldo didn't ask for a card, he was complaining about the foul. Any team's players would do the same thing in that situation.

There was no footage of him waving an imaginary card to suggest a sending off.

Yes there was that 'sly wink' - but that could have been for absolutely anything at all. TV can distort these things very easily.

I just find the hate campaign really sad and aggressive, and it's typical of the English mentality.

Why not address the real problems - the players have no control and technique (Italy showed us how the game should be played the other night), no passing ability, no football intelligence, no respect for genuine skill and vision and creative play, an amoral press which will do anything to sell papers (including destabilizing the team and the manager) and also a worrying and disturbing tendency to get violent when frustrated. And now this tendency to whine and launch hate campaigns against easy targets.

Allow me to clarify; I've disliked Ronaldo for a variety of reasons long before the "Rooney incident" (which to be honest didn't bother me overly; Rooney deserved to be sent off for bollock stamping plain and simple).

Yes, there are a lot of other cheats in the get-paid-£100,000-a-week modern professional game, and I'm singularly unimpressed by all of them.

As for England, I've never much supported Ericsson's "tactics". "Route One" football is dull and uninspiring to watch.

When I was a kid, we played 2:3:5; none of this 4:4:2 or 4:5:1 nonsense. You had proper positions like left wing, inside left, centre forward etc...

I spelled his name wrong though, Schweini and Olli ruled with pride 4 3rd spot.
I laid down 275 USD on Italy today and looks like I will collect my 15 DSP card earlier than expected, as here in Las Vegas the bookies always fuck up on International sports events by providing the wrong odds on young teams they know little about. I thank them 4 their failure, but they rape the population on every other event.

No, I don't bet on anything. France were the better team & it was a sad end to ZZ's career going out of the game to a referee who gives out red cards like there's no other option.

A sad end to the world cup for France to go out runners up when they played a better game of football.

You don't know anything about the rules or are you blind? Zidane HEADBUTTED the italian player! He deserved to be sent off!

Yes it was sad that he got sent off, but he had to go - no option in that situation. The ref has a headset and receives info from the 4th official as well as the linesmen.

It's not the end of the world - lots of great players have bad moments (Maradona on drugs in 94 for example).

Congrats to Italy - I think they deserved to win personally, even if it was just for the great goals in the semi-final.

Both Italy and France are the best teams today.
France played better the final than Italy, but anyway Italy is the winner... nothing to say more.
What a mistake Zidane!!! A real shame for the end of career of a champion. I'm sad.
