I think everyone seriously using the Modular got modIII -regardless of using the ModIII shell or not
(if anyone hasn't got it - a copy'n'paste of the the MIII modules:
FX: LongDelay, ModulatioinDelay, Pulsifier, Ducker, Expander, NoiseGate,12EQ types, FrequencyShifter, SSB Delay, SSB Phaser, PitchShifter, PitchShifterDelay, VocoderAnalysis, -Matrix, -Synthesis, VoicedUnvoiced, Division. Filter: FreeFilterBankC, MultimodeFilterC, PolyFilter. Gate: CompareAB, CompareAX, GateLogic, RandomGateGenerator. LFO: BiphaseLfo, CosineLfo, ShapeLfo, OffsetLfoA+B, RandomPulseGenerator. Midi: MidiClockDividerB+C, MidiGater, MidiSeq. Mix: Adder2-5, Bipolar2Unipolar, DCAdder, DCBlockingFilter, Diode, Inverter, Unipolar2Bipolar, GranularGater, QuadXFade, QuadPan, XYPan&Control, XY-Xfade&Control, Switches1x6, 1x8, 6x1, 8x1(gain). MOD 2 & 3 work together. 3 just adds a new shell & a whole bunch of different modules. I never got into V1 but i've heard I'm not missing anything.

I`ve had some crashes in the past with mod3, so I switched to mod2, but also had some SFP crashes,
so switched back to Mod III
and do not care anymore about Mod2.
I prefer the preset handling in M3.

lima, I thought of an fx chain , that you can load into any insert slot like the STM mixer inserts....
and then do all the stuff you can in modular shell.
Solaris has a mod shell on the filter stages too. So it seems possible at all.
