that doesn't mean that you shouldn't use it, though. the cellphone and email providers are wired directly into the NSA/dept of homeland security as well(sieg heil!). still, a word to the wise is sufficient.
Yes - just leave all your details out. i mean why as a standard profile does it have Political and Religious Views options along with the standard Age and Location ones? You really shouldn't broadcast that type of stuff.

This reminds me of a recent UK council (tower Hamlets) parking permits form. In London you have to have a Resident's Permit to park for free as free parking space is at a premium. So what information do you think the council would need on this? Perhaps proof of age, address and maybe your car registration number and whether you need a disabled spot? Oh no, this form had religion, race (White-British, White-Irish, White-European, Black-African, Black-Caribbean, Black-other, Somalian etc), sexual leanings (Hetero, Homo, Lesbian, Bi, Other???!!).

What the hell do they need this information for?

Of course one joker (British white male), put himself down as a Muslim lesbian Somalian into spanking or some such. Good on yer.

Being the world so big and the possibilities endless, why should you get into these kind of virtual places?

Nestor, that's like saying 'when there's so much money in the world, why would you get into debt?' Ok, well it's at least similar. :)

the link Neutron posted above made me browse their terms and conditions pages
here's what it says about User Content
...When you post User Content to the Site, you authorize and direct us to make such copies thereof as we deem necessary in order to facilitate the posting and storage of the User Content on the Site. By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to the Company an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute such User Content for any purpose, commercial, advertising, or otherwise, on or in connection with the Site or the promotion thereof, to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such User Content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing....
it is said further down that the license will automatically expire if the respective 'user content' is removed from the site by the user, but I wish anyone lot's of fun sueing a multi-billion company :P :D

sure, and if you believe that 100%, then you're as big an idiot as they thought.

in the best case, they just bought the copywrite to anything good you post for free. they just got a license to pimp you like a 15year old runaway streetwalker. perfect! half of the users are 15 years old!
