After the red blinks, then you must hit the Rec button and then the red should be steady. Is that what happens for you?

ronnie,

What version of Sonar are you using? How does the sound of VDAT compare to the sound of Sonar? Which one is easier to record to?
Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm using Sonar Platinum. I'm a long time Sonar user. I think VDAT is great; true you have to set up sample rates and tapes, record and playback modes and you don't have stereo channels so I think its more of a workflow convenience factor to record in Sonar or any other DAW of choice (routed through SCOPE of course  ) than a sound quality issue. Everything is going through SCOPE so either way it's pristine. For me it's kind of nostalgic of the ADAT tape mixdown days but realistically those days are past! Its just amazing to me that SCOPE had this "emulation" nailed from the very beginning, or at least when I started with 3.1, when ADAT was still widely used. Having said that I think Sonar Platinum is a DAW that has matured nicely over the years (as has others) and the ProChannels are surprisingly good. At one point, I think it was with X1 that I dropped back into using Cubase for a couple of projects because it was just more stable but after I upgraded to Sonar Producer X3 which proved to be solid once again. The bottom line is that you're comfortable with a DAW as long as it's on top of SCOPE of course :D .

ronnie,
Thanks for the response. I asked because I am "upgrading" my DAW, and will be using Sonar Platinum on it, along with SCOPE of course. I too am a long time Cakewalk user (Pro Audio days), and am currently using Sonar 8.5.3. I have X1, X2, and X3, but never used them! VDAT looks like it will be fun to play with!
Thanks again.
