Have you actually bought the 4.5 upgrade or the optional devices you want to use?

Don't abandon Scope yet!! You just haven't used it properly yet, that's all. The "Soundcard Dest" goes through MME and will be slow and have lots of latency -- not at all good for synths! You've got to get either an I/O plate or a second card from the Scope family (Scope Home, probably). Please, please consider one of those options. Once you've done that, Scope should work great.

Hi everyone,

I also had some craking noises from time to time while using Cubase SX3/Scope v4.0 on a p5b Asus mobo with 2Gb ram & intel p6600 dual core cpu (with two CW cards, a 6 & a 3 DSP), all running on Win XP Pro.

I checked everything proposed here to stop the noises: check IRQ conflicts, disabling USB controllers, etc etc. And still some noises.

And finally, I found that by:

- putting the cubase process priority to the max (real time) as suggested by Gary
- disabling totally internet
- disabling all not needed softs for music (including antivirus, as the only virus I have is an TI)

And... such a clean sound all the time!

:D <- that's me now

just turning off antivirus and internet alone is probably enough. you can probably use "above normal" for cubase(which is default).
