I was thinking of a finnish saying, but wasn't able to translate it to english properly
Last night happened the biggest traffic accident ever in Finland. What are the odds that a truck and a full bus collide at 2.20 am? On an infrequently driven road.
23 young people (from 14to30 years) and 15 injured badly. The youngest being only 12 years. The whole Finland is upset.

Yes I heard about that too. It was all over the news in Sweden.
A real tragedy.

Yes, news in Australia too
John Donne:
Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

sometimes it's called fate - these things happen beyond our (regular) understanding.
I still remember a good friend, who just had moved to to a new home with his girlfriend.
All was just perfect, with even business increasing.
A couple of weeks later they wanted to go a dinner in the neighbour town by car. Bad weather was announced and it was suggested to them to stay at home.
They firmly insisted on the trip, happily awaiting a nice evening.
On the highway they hit a spot with freezing rain, close to a bridge, the car got out of control and happened to leave the road through an unprotected gap of only a car lenght to slip down 25 meters and finally crash to a tree.
It just had to be - he broke his neck and she was almost uninjured.
He was one of the most admirable and gentle persons I've ever known, a true missing - he was my last boss, btw.
We just have to be careful not to use up our personal portion of luck too quickly, but such events make me see the world in a different light.
my sentiments are with the victims and their relatives, Tom

What?! Is it THAT big news. I'm impressed (if I may say so in this case).
Btw, have you heard speculations about what is the "diameter" of all the people on earth? Meaning, how many people you need to link any two people on earth. ( I know somebody who knows somebody etc).
My friend's girlfriend lost two friends in this accident. So, YOU are very closey related to these victims. Through only three people.

Well, it's not page 1, but I certainly read about it.

I'm still very sad for what happend in Madrid... If there are people and a country that doesn't deseve it, this is Spain!
Spain has the mayor number of helpers in the world... There are curiously, thouthands and thousands of Spanish people spred around the world, working for free in well known and not so well known ONGs, that are doing a lot for people today...
What is happening with us people?
What do you want to do with this planet?
Is it so difficult to stop violence trying out something new... ? there are so many good ways... but we've got the worst of them all... the world never stops surprising me

Yes, it was horrendous. my story was "only" an accident but imagine, some people did this thing in Spain on purpose. Crazy!

For a long time, the only planet I want to live in is PlanetZ
