Begin to know what linux can do for multimedia producers:

can it be used/installed on a computer which already has XP ? i'd like to give a run to linux now that it seem to become more reliable or accessible than before.

Dynebolic can run on ALL pc i386 systems and on mod xbox too.
Just burn, insert the cd and make cdrom like boot device from bios.
If you have disabled onboard sound, enable it to hear something.
Your ac97 audio, firewires, usb pendrives and more devices will be *automatically* recognize.
You can do a lot of thing with dynebolic, streming audio and video djing...
Give a try at Pure Data...
In the next release should be Ardour, best protools clone (without midi) for linux.

Thanks for that Linux audio distri link!

I downloaded and burned the ISO for my DAW - the OS loads from CD, it's easy :smile: Murphey's around, it runs on any machine except on the DAW. Will have to do some more reading on the subject I guess...

May be because there's no scope driver yet ?
