I just picked up a Noah EX. Install went fine, Sonar 3 is sending midi through USB and the Noah is receiving it. I can hear the output through Noah's headphone jack. My problem is that in Sonar I can only choose either the Pulsar's asio drivers, or the Noah's. If I choose Noah's I don't have access to my SFP instruments and vice versa. What am I missing? I know it's probably something obvious, but I can't find the answer in any of the manuals. Any tips on how to get both systems working harmoniously would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

i may be wrong, but i didn't think the SFP software & Noah software were integrated yet.

Well, that would certainly explain things. Looks like ADAT is the way to go then. Thanks!

yes,the analog outs or adat work great.i find that sonar crashes if i don't connect(and power up)noah AFTER sonar...

garyb, you also have NOAH?
I see it's finally spreading slowly here

Hi,
the fact that you can't activate SFP's and Noah's Asio Drivers at the same time is NOT a problem of creamware. This is the fact that Sonar is only supporting one driver! Same in Cubase. Emagic allows two diffrent drivers, but i think not the same kind, something like one Asio and (let's say) a wdm driver.
This also a synchronising problem, but it would be nice, that's true.
It should be possible to use SFP and Noah at the same time in Cubase, if they both are using the same Asiodriver!
Example: i have two RME Hammerfall DSP PCI cards running in my PC and working with Cubase, they using exactly the same driver. A Multiface is connected to each of the Hammerfallcards and i synchronized them via wordclock. Works fine!
Maybe one day Noah can work like another Pulsarcard together with SFP....???? So we have to wait what comes after SFP4. A Noah update would be nice anyway. Until then, connect Noah via Adat to SFP.

It would be cool if Noah had Z-Link connections. Then if it would be recognized as an I/O device(providing all of the functionality of Noah at the same time of course)it would be smooth & super sexy.

A quick little update. Went out and got myself an optical cable, ADAT is working beautifully.

I think the problem was that I just wasn't 'getting' how SFP and Noah are supposed to work side by side. Thanks everyone!

I have Luna II, Pulsar I and Noah EX, and separately the units work flawlessly. However, when running Cubase SFP 4.0 and Noah remote, my system crackles a lot. I believe the problem has to do with the latency settings. When i reduce the ULLI to 25 ms, the crackle is almost gone. At 3 or 7 ms, it is useless.

Is it possible to better synchronise the units?

Neb, you must slave sfp to Noah via ADAT,assuming you haven't already.

OK, I have already slaved SFP to my EMU 6400 ULTRA sampler w/ ADAT. But, since my Pulsar I has double ADAT interface, I might be able to slave it to NOAH also?

Not 2 at once, I don't think.

can you slave the sampler to sfp?

Ah - an ADAT chain!

Noah [MASTER] --> SFP [SLAVE] --> E-mu [SLAVE]

Have to try at home!

chainning works, i have something like this

tascam fw1884(master)->sfp(slave)
Art DPS (slave) -> sfp(already slaved to fw1884)

Working flawlessly

so you can slave your noah to the emulator, everyone will have the same clock. should remove clicks.

it's the same ! the wordclock is the point.
when you slave hardware to its adat input, you are slaving it to the wordclock coming from the adat input.

in this case there are pops because there is a digital connection between hardwares that does not share the same wordclock.
your SFP is on the emu clock (via adat) and the problem is that the noah is on its own.

if you connect the 6400's BNC WClock OUT to the noah BNC WClock IN, the noah will be slaved to the 6400, exactly the same way it would have been if it had an adat input to slave it to the 6400.
Everyone will then have the same WordClock, coming from the e-mu, and the pops won't happen anymore (assuming the wordclock was the only problem).

that's what i'm saying

bnc wordclock is the only way to slave noah to anything.
