Hello!

I've seen previous discussions about a simple recorder. Is there any available yet?

My suggestion is something like the dummie picture at this link.
http://www.mikla.nu//mtmbjm/mtmbjm.html
The inputs should be just L+R and a midi in.

IMO that's up to CWA. I suspect there's some recording atom which they only have, or we'd seen this device around. It's something people been asking since long, but I'm afraid the only DSP harddisk recorder is VDAT for now.

I use this small program, Radiator, which I got originally for the laptop's USB radio. It is native and relatively light on resources. It supports scripts, does loop recording and works fine without the radio on my DAW.

More comments needed!

I have appended the site at http://www.mikla.nu/mtmbjm/mtmbjm.html with new comments.

I will add more, and change the graphical layout, with your comments, and try to find a developer to do this device.

Recording algorithm is a tiny file that programs the 'record to disk' into a device. You cannot download it, even developers don't have it afaik. Only CW has it. I don't think they'll release it any time soon, they'd rather sell you VDAT. [edit: i just bought VDAT:]

Good luck anyways

Shouldn't these "recording atoms" exist as well in the ASIO and Wave drivers? Because in essence, when using them you are translating/recording the sound of SFP to the hard disk and vice versa.
So, maybe one could do another thing. Develop an (ASIO, Wave or other type of) 32bit integer driver that would connect to a small and light windows-based program just for stereo recording.
Maybe the guys who are developing the SFP drivers for Linux could do it?

Just an idea....maybe crazy....

Atoms in ASIO are called VST/VSTi

and they exst, some free, like Silverspike tapeIt1

But they record in 32bits float, not 32bits integer like vdat or sts

So, it seems I am talking pure b*llsh*t!... :roll

It would be nice though to have an ASIO 32bit integer driver...

BTW, what about the Emagig EASI drivers? Are they able to record in 32bit integer?

You can use the regular scope ASIO2 driver to record 32-bit integer. They are signed as 24-bit, but according to my tests, they seem to let the signal thru down to the 32 bit. Unfortunately, there is no sequencer that records 32-bit integer.

Signed as 24bit? There's ASIO-32 in the Software IO's, apart from the 16, 24 and flt modules.

Yes, it's strange all native uses 32flt...

I wonder if EasyCUT XP, the native sequencer from CW, does 32 fixed point. Has anyone tried it?

Or maybe tripleDAT does it - but is there an XP version yet? CW site mentions it's Win98 only...

If i remember Frank post on EasyCut XP, he was talking about a first in 32bits recording, he was probably talking about 32bits integer, since 32bits flt already existed ? I'm not sure...

Yes, I meant ASIO2-32 driver, but in Cubase it's labeled as 'Scope 24-bit'.
