Ok, I have had this condition with my SFP stuff for as long as can remember, but have not thought of it as a possible problem until recently.
When I pause any audio-playback i.e. from winamp I get a noticeable delay with a couple of repetitions of the last sample happening in the right channel. This is when using the Analog outputs. I have yet to try to monitor through my A16U though I will test that ASAP.
This is latency dependant and I have my ULLI set to 23ms, or the slowest. I have experienced problems with lower settings earlier, but I can always try again.
Besides this being a bit irritating I am worried that this is a symptom of a possible phase/delay issue (of a sample or more)between the left and right channel. Either it is my ears or sounds seem to playback earlier and more volumous from the left side. This is easier to detect wearing headphones..
So, can anyone relate to this?

Does this happen with your Scope?
Run dxdiag.exe > Sound > No Acceleration
This should fix stuttering on pause, as if the last received buffer loops. Don't know what the L/R channels will do, maybe this fixes the problem

Cool, thanks. I don't get to try this before sunday though.
Yes, the last buffer received loops a couple of times like when computer games crash and the card keeps on playing what ever it has in memory, over and over again. Though this only happens with the right channel, so this is were my phase-consern comes from.
I will let you know what the results are.
Woould you know more of the technical aspects of doing this? Like, I understand you turn of HW acceleration, but I didn't really know it existed at all. Audio-acceleration? Oh well.

Winamp looks good but it was plagued with bugs (one of the version that I had, 2.7 I think, leaked memory). I use Winplay, the little player from Fraunhofer (the Institute that developed the mp3 format). It is primitive but fast, all that I need
(still beta since 1997
)

However, my problem is present using VDAT to, or any other playback device, if I remember correctly.

Oh. Why have I not been told about this before? Thanks! This info solved one of my most irritating ununderstandable bugs in my system! On 2004-07-30 13:44, at0m|c wrote:

I just discovered that when turning accel off I get some extra background noise when in playback. :/
Does anyone encounter this?
Turns out it goes away when I enable the primary buffer under direct out setting on winamp.
