I was in a strange mood today, felt like I could break something unusual, and this is what I got.

There's something futuristic about this track. Makes me think of stuff like SONY electronics of the future or something. There something intrisically "Japanese corporate" about this tune. Or maybe that's just me. hehe.

Uses In the ASS for kicks (my patch in the mod forum)
Chopp for Snare (also in mod forum)
Pads and bass are from hummel bluesynth
Piano is PMI Bosendorfer
Rest is sampletank2

It's kinda compressed for a "tape" feel. I might go back and remove it tho, cuz it's on the verge of pumping a bit too much.

Early Yellow Magic Orchestra, Ryuichi!

Mixed with a kind of electro-funk beat...combined with...something Stewart Copeland might have played on the piano.

My son thinks it sounds like it would be extrememly good video game music for something called "Final Fantasy", whatever the hell that is!

Very early eighties feel.

It's catchy and addictive!

You wake up and...

...there is no clean underwear or socks...so you have to stay in your pyjamas while you do laundry.

It's a rainy Sunday morning...with cup of steaming tea you stand by the window, and, seeing your breathe on the window, draw in it and watch it... dis-appear.

...and the rain runs down the window in little rivulets, combining, merging, falling...

and then you go outside and just stand there in the rain...

...and then you dry with a fresh clean towel and then you put on clean clothes right out of the dryer...

Yep, pretty evocative stuff. Very visual for me.

That all means I like it!

well that was kind of a strange stream of consciouness thing I just did, that all came out in the first listen; that was wierd...powerful music!

pretty interesting vision you got from the tune!

I thought about it after I put up the tune, and yeah, I totally agree on it having that definitive YMO feel. YMO's the juice I've grown up on, despite it being a music from before my era, so there's definitely some of them in there.

The arpeggiating sequence must be what triggered the Final Fantasy (a popular RPG game) idea. There's a tune in Final Fantasy I think that uses similar arpeggiations.

Glad ya liked it!

It is indeed a perfect vision for a Japanese commercial, maybe panasonic because they produce more appliances.

Everything I described could be linked to an appliance of some sort.

...that's pretty funny!

WOW! Remember those Yasuaki Shimizu tunes?

Can you try something? Put a reverb on the piano that has a predelay to match the beat. What I mean is the reverb will pop out on the beat following the last chord(the fourth beat of the bar, I guess) But only when that first progression plays, and whenever else it plays.

Love your stuff

What´s the noise in the beginning?
A big noise like distant traffic or a modular white noise module.

I feel with you Ken, best wishes for your "new" creative powers.

Great track, many details, careful and strong together, excellent. It´s good to know you.

I put the noise in there. Actually, it's there throughout the track, for no apparent reason. Kind of a tape "hiss" kinda thing. Not sure if it had any major effect. Perhaps it was more of an aesthetic thing. hehe.

I like that a lot - lots of interesting layers going on and everything's nicely integrated rhythmically.

Perhaps the discordance in the piano piece is quite "Japanese"?

Note to self: upgrade to ModIII!! Then I can check out Chopp & ASS
