Many an evening spent listening to his excellent radio shows; alas, no more.

i was just thinking about what a loss his death would be only yesterday (seriously). There'll never be any interesting music on British radio now. i saw him once in the classical section at HMV Oxford Street - wish i'd said hello now at the very least.
Lots of bands owe him a huge debt.
Truly saddened.

from time to time - when listening to some old vinyls in the recordstore - I ask myself '... sounds familiar, must have had this on a tape years ago...'
and most of these tapes originated from
John Peel's Music
still remember the tension, awaiting new releases, with armed tracks and the finger ready to pushe the button...
in deep respect to a remarkable person, Tom

very sad news indeed.. I remember listening to Peel when I was younger.. heard some great stuff on that show. I'm surprised that so many people outside the UK know about him. I guess he was pretty influential.
What's really sad is that now there's going to be next to no decent music played on UK radio.. the only other half-decent shows I know of are Gilles Peterson and Solid Steel.. but they're all on at ridiculous times. So we're left with XFM.. bloody marvellous

I've got many peel sessions here (john peel produced many artists as well as hosting the Radio1 show) and they're all cherished... sad news.
