In the movie you see dozens of small red sailing boats slowly leaving an idyllic harbour.
I uploaded this track, although I don´t know if it works without the pictures. Basically, it is one guitar track improvised to the ready cut film. Later, I added three more guitar tracks with various effects (reverse, grain delay, etc.) I was a little inspired by Brian Eno´s "Music for Airports" (which is still unmatched, after all those years).

Of Course:
The guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul. Between the guitar and the soundcard was a "behringer tube ultragain mic 100" (50 Euros) as preamp/DI-Box. Effects come from Native Instruments Guitar-Rig and Reaktor.

This is really nice and beautiful. It made me think of the msoudtrack from Motorcycle Diaries by Gustavo Santaolalla and the soundtrack from Paris Texas, by Ry Cooder...

Theres, something about the mix though. I would love the mix to be a bit more close up and intimate, and I'm missing some of the low end.... I wonder how it would sound through Optimaster and PsyQ....

Anyways, beautiful track!

Thanks!
Thomas

Thanks for your replies!
@petal: I love the "Paris, Texas" soundtrack, but I don´t know the "Motorcycle Diaries". I must look for it immediately. Thanks for the tip!

I'm a big fan of Eno's ambient work and I can hear the influence here. More western sounding than Fripp. It has a sort of Nevada/Arizona sound to it. I see desert not ocean. I guess it's the twangy quality of your playing. It's interesting and I enjoyed it.

Being from that general region, I agree totally. Much in the same way I feel Aphex Twin is very "desert". Or maybe its the "edge-ish" guitar makes us think of joshua trees...

Why I chose that "desert"-sound (DADGAD-tuning, Vintage Twang amp): I mainly filmed close-ups on the skippers´ faces (mostly old people) silently waiting for the start of the regatta. When they finally leave, it looks a bit like "a last journey". So, beside that Eno-like quiteness in the beginning, I wanted the music to give the film a mystical quality, as you find it in Neil Young´s "Dead Man" or the "Dark was the Night" theme in "Paris, Texas".
