Some of my XTC (SB404, Vectron, EDS 16i) are showing up as an effect in Cubase SX 2, not as a VSTis. All my other XTC synths show up fine with the other native VSTis. I already refreshed the VST plugin folder many times but I can't get them to show up as an instrument. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

you could try to rename the file extension from .mdl to .dev ?

Thanks for the input but could you be more specific? All the synth files that were installed in the VST plugin folder are DLLs...

Thanx

delete the dll's for non-working synths then take the dll of a synth that is working for you in cubase, then copy and rename to the synths that are not working, it should then recognise them as synth vsti's not effects, you can check this in plug in info.

best of luck

I had this, only reverse (the effect was showing up in the VSTi list).

When you copy the synth DLL, you will probably have to use a new name for the DLL and the DEV/MDL files. In my case, Cubase didn't seem to want to "re-register" the plugin for me when I used the correct type of DLL the second time around, and it just stayed in the incorrect category until I did the renaming of those files.

Thank you all. Got it working. All I had to do was to reinstall Scope and everything worked fine. It looked like my older allkeys file didn't include the synth & sampler pack. Weird that those files still got installed in Cubase though...
