Hi all,

Well I am in the market for a small mixer, very small actually like 4 channels mainly to controle my monitoring and headphone inputs, I have a 24 channel mackie but these days I rout most everything via adat so sadly my desk gets very little use aside from the last stereo channel which acts as a master fader for monitoring.

I have found this little tiny inexpensive Soundcraft Controle 4 mixer which seems like its the perfect fit for my needs, 4 stereo indepentant channels, (2) headphone inputs, 1 enginner and 1 artist, not channeled soundcard input and record buss (this is nice since it does not take a specific channel for monotoring and truelly unique bussing system simplified as a record routing aswell as phantom power for 2 of 4 channels.

I was just curious if any one has seen or worked with this device before?

go for it. it's as good as any at that price and with those features.

The "DI" input facility and the recording outputs seem like a nice touch

I figure this is prob a nice small mixer for what I need currently as in a small box to controle monitoring input, I have my larg desk but it seems silly to use just 1 channel and have the rest sitting there doing nothing.

Plus I figure if I ever need to use a channel or two for inputs I can since there are 4 and the turntable inputs are quite cool aswell.

One bonus is the dual headphones, that seems like a touch that is typically found on 24 channel + mixers, which works well for me at evenings and low monitoring situations.

I was however considering something like a small mackie but it seems silly to spend 800 bucks on a 8-12 channel onyx just to monitor audio since I am mixing inside the box.

Sounds like somebody's had a think and it's trickled down to the implementation department...most unusual

179 Euros is a little steep for such a small mixer. Consider a Yamaha MG series mixer, much cheaper, starting from 8 channels: http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/Con ... 00,00.html.

I had actually looked at the small yamaha mixers, but I dont really need 8 channels, even though if I did I still have my mackie desk, for right now I just needed something mostly for headphones and monitoring.

Whats interesting though is the specifications on the soundcraft compact series was really designed to be integrated with a DAW since they understand small project studio's or home studios would need the features they provided.

I honestly think they did a great job feature wise, and at 125.00 retail USD its hard to beat this board feature wise.
