Since installing Battery 2, every now and then, when I open a Cubase project which uses Battery 1, I get the message, "Please insert the Battery CD". On the surface, not such an issue, BUT my new all-singing all-dancing Plextor DVD-RW drive cannot see the bloody Battery 1 CD due to those stupid "copy protection" holes that NI used.
So, I have to boot my other machine, stick the Battery 1 CD in that computer and share the drive so that it can be seen from my DAW.
I find this to be a bit of a pain in the arse...I intend to write to NI and ask them about this; I saw no indication that installing Battery 2 would affect my Battery 1 installation in this way...pretty sneaky, really!
grrr...

Battery 2 changes behaviour of Battery 1 :-(
that's not funny indeed.
I've not updated yet, but I checked the NI Batterie forum on a regulary base.
I can't remember any message like this.
Did you check the cd in other cdroms, preferable new ones? You could try it in a comp shop.
And I'd post it in the NI forum, to see if others are experiencing the same as well.
Does Batterie2 come with the same holes protection?

Update: after a bit (OK; a lot) of swearing and cussin' at NI's website (sometimes my username is my email address, sometimes "Counterparts"...I wish they'd make their mind up!) I have posted to the Battery forum and also used NI's on-line support form to follow this problem up.

NI have been very quick to respond to me regarding this issue.
Point #1: they say that Battery always occasionally asks for the Battery 1 CD. Hmm. I've had this for one and a half years (since Sept '03), and it's never asked me for this before I installed Battery 2.
ALL/ANY BATTERY 1 USERS: does your installation of Battery 1 occasionally ask for the CD to be inserted?
Point #2: they think that my DVD drive cannot read the CD because it's "too fast for the old Battery 1 CD"
So, I will try to find some freeware which will allow me to do this.

After some investigations, it seems that modern drives can go too quick for old-skool disks...and ones with dodgy copy protection!
I have found this rather good site:
http://www.cdspeed2000.com/
I have downloaded a utility called "NeroDriveSpeed" ... it can be used to slow down fast drives. I've posted it to myself at home and will try it out this evening!
