As I recall, Peter Vogel from Fairlight was offered some serious military contracts as a result of the work they were doing. This would have kept the company going and paid for heaps of R&D. He put it to his staff... they said no way. So basically, they all politely told the Australian government to get stuffed.
Edit: Heaps of military R&D.....a little musical R&D on the side. Agree/disagree with his decision, I admired his strong self awareness.
