Straight to the point:
We are in serious economical trouble right now with my wife, unfortunately! Some jobs that were for sure for us have not been given to us finally, and we are in a grave pressure as bills are coming and there is no money to pay them. As we have no incomes whatsoever right now, I had a wild idea that may succeed. Read please:

I thought to build a 500MB bass sample library. As you all know, I’m a bass player, and this is the best I can offer. I would do my very best, I swear, in terms of performance, sound purity and quality, to assure everybody to enjoy a set of highly useful samples. I am not offering you a “mercy” interchange, I will truly work hard for you to have a good set of bass samples, if we agree.

I think I would do them 32bits for maximum quality, unless you ask for 24bits for compatibility matters. All samples in Wav format. The samples will be totally royalty free, of course. You can use them without any kind of restrictions whatsoever.

I need to reach 500 dollars for it to become real, 400 that I will use to pay my coming bills, and 100 that I need to cover my immediate expenses, like having a new set of strings. I cannot afford working on these samples unless I have first the money, otherwise I have to rush in the search for other solutions.

Prise? Anything you want, as long as $500 are reached. If there are 20 of you that would like this work, the samples will be $25 per set. If you were 50 persons, the samples would be only $10 per set. I don’t mind if they are paid $4, the important thing for us now, is to solve the situation as soon as possible.

Please, let me know if you are interested in those samples posting here.

If there is somebody interested in buying them all at this price to resell them that, would also be great, of course, no rights will be needed. We only don’t want to go back, loosing all the efforts we have done for about 4 years to set our little business.

Ok, I have knocked another possible door to solve the situation, let see if this one opens itself, and things can go to a better light.

Thank you for your reading, whatever your decision, cheers

Sorry to hear about this Nestor. Real bass is not for me but have you considered directly contacting some of the small VSTi developers ? There are quite a few small rompler style devices out there now always looking for new sound sets. I'm thinking of Wusikstation, Eve etc. You could do a search on KvR for such devices and contact developers direct. Look at the top of the page here for some recent 'sound set' releases as an idea:

I have also PM'd you.

Might be a case of "Build it and they will come". I'd be interested, but it won't fit my budget in that timeframe.

We are so very thankful to all those PM we have received here with my wife! We have been moved by your words of support and your strong wish to help us too  Image

If I am completely honest with you, I have never thought about this with a strong hope, all on the contrary, I thought I was doing a silly proposal. You are already seven in the list, so I will be starting the work soon, as I see there is a real perspective now.

Thank you to you all!

Now, we have created a PayPal account, but as we don’t have a credit card, I don’t know if it is of any use. The account says “you now need to activate the account”. We thought we could get it with just a common bank account number, and that is all we have. What can I do?

Any suggestion on how to do the samples, about styles, about what you would like personaly, etc., etc., would be greately appreciated. If anybody has a special musical need, please let me know here, so I can get those ideas into the collection too. Cheers

well, I tried some in a local shop just for fun and honestly the cheapos weren't very inspiring at all. Driven by curiosity I picked one from the 'more expensive shelf', a Status with graphite neck and a nice natural wooden outfit.
WOW, it felt just perfect and the instrument's look was very appealing, too. It would succeed even as a decorative part of the living room...

I was ready to buy it (spontaneously), but we couldn't agree on payment conditions.
Since I'm the one who spents the cash and who's willing to pay a higher price locally, I expect to be treated accordingly - I really felt p*ssed off, because I totally liked the instrument.

So I looked for an alternative to fill the gap and got one in the next shop for one tenth of the Status' price.
It's no name thing labeled ZAK (at least Schaller mechanics and bridge) with a small damage on one of the pots, which doesn't bother me anyway as I've connected the pickups directly to a stereo plug to have each one separated in SFP. I play it directly into the A16 (same as yours) with no probs and Celmo's bass amp does the rest...

It's much harder to play than the Status, of course, but performs decently regarding it's price - and a higher challenge isn't bad for learning either.
Nevertheless I WILL get that Status model (S1 classic if I remember right) with the next 1k Euros free to spent on something.

cheers, Tom

Are you kidding? You are my preferred bass player in the Z! I think you play very well and also have a excellent sound too. I’ll be sending you an organized idea to follow, so not to repeat things, I definitely count on you! Thank you!

@ Astro,
I have that Status also, it's an amazing good bassguitar

The graphite neck is fantastic, never feeling cold, always giving axactly that gliding resistence to your hand, perspired or not.

Also, no dynamic differences normally due to wood grains, and pickups and active circuit are really great, the sound is perfectly like the pre CBS Fender Precisioon models (pre '64), but without the disadventages of low output and old circuits.

I used to have one, indirectly bought from Howlin' Wolf's latest bassplayer, but after years it got stolen and then I bought the Status.
(Ever heard Wolf's 'Little red rooster' from '57? I was shocked, used to the Rolling Stones version from '65).

BTW, I changed the original Precision elements by active RME 'Precision' pickups those days, if someone wants to have the famous original pickups, you can have them, shipping costs for you

Most bassplayers are absurdly conservative, but I like it very much that I got rid of the ridiculous tuning head of normal models.

Your turning circle on stage (think of performers, dancers, etc) is much smaller without, you can tune while keeping a pressed tone sounding, and the looks do fit much better in electronic settings than that bluesy look of the old fatheaded impotent penis symbol, sorry guys
What penis, the neck with deep looking glasslike black graphite with open weaven panty pattern inside looks like a hot woman's leg
so it depends what you prefer, a (your?) penis or a womans leg in your hands

Anyway, I never play the Status anymore, but it's the only instrument from my 'band period' that I didn't wanne sell so far.
It's value keeps constant relatively, and I guess I'll keep it as my ultimate rescue in possible real problem times

You'd never regret that buy Astro, but you know that already

sorry for being OT

OT to Astro...just get the thing set up properly. It should become just as easy to play as the Status. You can get some allen keys or whatever is needed to adjust the action at the bridge. If the nut needs dropping, pull it out and sand it, carefully, evenly on the base. Many aren't even glued in to make it easier.

Just a thought.

Note to Nestor: Go man.... lookin' good!
