Hello.
Sometimes I spent a bit of time doing audio CD copies of my old tapes/vinyls.
Since exporting acquired tracks is quite busy in Nuendo, I'm looking for advices about a good wave editor software.
I heard about Wavelab as a good one, but wish to know possible alternatives.

Although lots of people say it's old and decrepit, I still use Cool Edit Pro 2.0. The noise removal algorhythms are more than adequate to my ears.

Adobe Audition 1.5 is the "updated" version of Cool Edit.
Don't think you can buy Cool Edit anymore.
Agree with paulmartin, it is a great program.
Most of my wave's and mp3's are treated inside Audition, one way or another.

I still use TWE by Yamaha. A simple wave editor, for simple folk (like what I am).
It's free too! It won't provide any e.g. funky noise-reduction processing though.

Thank you all, guys.
I'll try some of those, starting with Audacity, cause I probably have it on a CD from a magazine.

I second Audition. Hands down the BEST audio editor I have ever used(and I've used them all). I edit dialog for a living & it's flexibility & customizability are unrivaled. I have nearly every function assigned to a shortcut key. The noise reduction(especially the pop & click remover) is as good as similar products costing thousands. Not to mention it's burning software & a multitrack recorder. One downside though is the waveform overviews take a long time for my old machine to build. The biggest upside is that it's only $300.
