Hi all,
I was sequencing a bit this afternoon and I was telling myself that it would be good to have a scope MIDI Clock generator that can be retriggered by a MIDI note, like we can do with the MIDITremolo.
I've tried with MOD2, I even tried syncing others clock with internal the MIDI Tremolo one, but it seems that the clock itself is not retriggered by the MIDI note.
Is that already implemented? Have I missed something?
Thanks a lot,
Sam.
MIDI Clock with MIDI retrigger
In the modular you can easily retrigger the clock divider, connecting the MVC gate out to a Gate Or module and the Gate Or output to the Start-Stop input of the clock divider. Naturally the gate out on MVC must be connected to it's e-sync input, either with the usual connection of a Creamware envelope or just shortcut directly if you don't use any envelope with e-sync connection.
If you are using Creamware sequencer modules in the patch you will connect the Gate Or output also to their reset input to restart them with the same note command.

thanks for your input.
seems to work inside modular, but I can't find a way to send MIDI DIVIDER out to output a MIDI Clock signal to sync external devices.
I'm not even sure that would be usefull in fact... do the MIDI clock synced devices take care of when the clock starts to sync enveloppes and so on... or do they only calculate the tempo, no matter when the bar starts?

Midi Clock has got timing information, when you retrigger the clock divider you just restart it at a certain offset regarding the incoming clock. On 2005-08-22 23:41, funkysam wrote:

Now, If you have to work with several modulars, they can be independently retriggered putting a divider in each one.
If you work with clocked synth plugins they usually have the retrigger options and the division field inside them.
I don't see any need for a unique point of retriggering for all the synths, If you just send the note to each one they are capable to restart and play together correctly....
What you needed to know on how to retrigger a clock with a note on, now you know...just replicate the situation for every modular you use.
