are they to stupid to develop an firewire interface / converter / pcmcia card for using the a16 ultra
as a audio interface for laptops ??? (who was the stupid person which decides that the used firewire protokoll is creamware proprietär)

It'll work with ADAT. Just get some PCMCIA card that has ADAT I/O, like this one: http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM01 ... -Card.html and it'll work fine.

Otherwise, next time you buy an I/O box, make sure you do some research first. Buy it for *what is does*, not was it might do in the future.

is there any firewire audio interface that doesn't use a proprietary protocol ?
there is no such thing as an 'audio standard' in this context

Evidently. Hey CWA if you're listening, I vote for the PCMCIA card route. That would help a lot.
