Hi folks,
as the 4.5 has some updates, anyone tried with dual cpu/ dualcore/ hyperthreading in XTC/ SFP?
Is it compatible?

I have no problems with my dual xeon system. 2 physical processors, 2 logical processors, on SCOPE v4.0
The only problem I have ever had with Creamware is if SFP is running even in the task tray, it trashes my burnt dvd or cds.
It messes with ASPI, I think.

Hi Shayne,
Don't think so! There is various way to use these boards, which lend to a more or less "stable" situation (and taking into account the acceptance of "stability" term by users). The harder you "push" the cards, the less stable they are (96Khz, low ULLI setting, number of ASIO connections, ...). The chipset is also an issue (and the general PC config: RAM, Power Supply, ...).
I think that if you want to have a clear idea of the situation you have to get all these informations from others pulsarians.
What can be taken for sure, is that there is a "chipset" problem in Dual core as it is stated in creamware support document (4.5 doc).
Maybe you could find a "stable" config by adjusting some elements from your scope project, but you will never be sure that your PC won't halt.

I'm going with:
Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939
AMD 4400 X2
2 GB RAM
MAGMA 7 slot chassis
(for 3 or 4 UAD-1's TC PowerCore mkII)
Matrox P750 +2x LA CIE 20" LCD
TC PowerCore FW, containing all my licenses ....
And depending on if I get it going, Scope cards, with 2x Nuendo 8I/O, if not, then some of my RME 9652 cards for I/O
This machine will connect via gigabit switch to:
1x Waves APA32
1 or 2 FX-Teleported pc's made with
Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939
AMD 4400 X2
2 GB RAM
and appropriate disks for all samplings, etc.
If the Scope stuff is not possible to get running stable, I will make a dedicated pc and run this via adat i/o's.
All the license shit makes deciding what cards go in which pc's a nightmare.

eh, you're right,
I am a luna(t)ech!

If I have to make a dedicated pc it might be based on a cusl-2 with win98, or Intel D875PBZ running Win 98, Win 2000, or XP:
whatever it takes to make it work.
The only thing I really will miss in my mixing pc will be the spl stuff, warps reverbs, vinco, and the ISON-eq.
I hope to get it going though, on the mix pc.
That way I can use xtc mode in Nuendo 3.2

I must add, I suffer from having licenses spread unwisely around my cards.
All in all, I have:
1 x Scope Pro
2 x Scope Projects
2 x Pulsar 1
1 x Luna II
and an acient Tripledat ISA!
So, what I could really like to do is,
all effects on 1 or 2 Project cards (in the mix pc),
The Scope Pro in a dedicated pc for all synths.
Or I don't know, there is too many variables.
I really hope CW could get a good driver / installation setup working.
Otherwise I really hope the developers go to TC or someone else that have working systems.
I would by the plugins from them without hesitation then ....
Feels awful to say it like this, but as much as I love the sounds from CW's system, I hate that it doesn't work easyli, reinstallations, and all that stuff.
XTC is the most important feature for me.
Even though I have plenty licensesfor things only SFP, I would sacrifice it for XTC, atleast for insert/effect plugins.

Hi phyx, have you done anything special to get it running, and how stable are it?On 2005-12-04 17:31, phyx wrote:

Is it running 3 ms latency with 16 I/O?

Hi Jea,
Sound like you are going to have some troubles. If you look at your config, you'll have:
- MAGMA rack on PCI bus (UAD, TC PowerCores) 2 ASIO comm per Fx,
- Firewire for TC Powercore (2 ASIO comm per Fx)
- Gigabit lan for teleport
- and your Scope boards on PCI (Inputs/Outputs + Fx + Synth? each associated with ASIO comm)
all of this on the PCI bridge! ... and 4 drivers which will have, at some point or another to share interrupts (Taken from Shayne, you cannot install the NFORCE3 without ACPI, so you won't be able to setup for interrupt in the BIOS and rely on the int 21...23 scheme.
So, I am not 100% sure, but that is typically a config I won't be looking for!
Maybe Garyb on this!

Hi,
I have from another user at the nuendo.com, confirmed that 4x UAD-1 and 3x TC PowerCore works in the Magma without problems at all.
I will not use the Sil raid. This will be deactivated in bios, together with lots of stuff.
So basically the UAD-1's and TC PowerCore stuff in Magma, soundcards in mobo pci's.
1 disk for system & software WD360,
1 disk for audiotracks WD740.
DVD burner on USB 2.
It's doable, only real problem now is Scope.
