A few years ago, I worked on this project where I took a generic arcade cabinet and added hot-swappable control panels. You can check out the details at http://dansarcadepc.freeservers.com/

Anyway, I thought it would be cool to do the same thing with a MIDI controller -- Build Your Own MIDI Controller. For the ArcadePC, I used a board called IPAC that converts the joystick switches to keyboard signals. I didn't have to solder a thing. Do they make such a board for MIDI controls? Imagine swapping between Minimax, Pro-12, and B-2003 panels
