Hi folks!
I have just recently bought the Waves APA32.
This is just a AMD cpu wit 512 mb ram ....
If Creamware could put Scopecards in a CW optimized pc like this, and make it work the same way (netshell), I would buy it.
That way we didn't have to "optimize" our pc's, and have all working on gigabitlan.
Would have been cool?

I was quite surprised when I read that about the Waves boxes a couple of weeks ago - I originally assumed they had used Motorola versions.
but imho those boxes are nothing but their response to cr*cked programs - of course they look cute.

Hi Tom,
I don't think it's about cracked stuff ....
I can run about 5 IR1's on that box alone.
But, yes, think if CW made a 3U rackmount pc the same way, with Scope cards (without I/O), this would be cool.
Running it via gigabit. WOW!

Jea, in my pre-Pulsar days even I had all their stuff on that CD that a friend of a friend passed along...
I didn't even ask for it, I didn't even need or install it, and the dude who passed it to me wouldn't be considered to belong to a certain 'scene' either.
Do you think that the situation has changed in a positive way (say) in the last 4 years ?

PlanetZ is here for optimum computer optimisation. My machine is smooth as silk because of the recommendations of the Gurus here. Also, 4ms ain't bad at all as far as I'm concerned.

My setup is 2 rack PCs linked via Gigabit LAN with FX Teleport (amazing tools, very stable and powerful!).
First PC as Host (Cubase SX 3.1) with SCOPE 9DSP used in XTC mode. (M'n'M pack and other effects) + VST effects + 2 UAD.
Second PC as external Synth Rack with SCOPE 10DSP (S'n'S pack and a lot of other synths) and VSTi rack (via FX Teleport): 256 samples/delay, but I really don't care because PDC in Cubase...
It works in same way as Waves APA!!!
The 2 PCs are linked also with 4 optical cables ADAT (2x8 in & and 2x8 out): in this way I can bypass the mixer of Cubase, and I can mix all my out busses (from Cubase with all automation and FX) with SCOPE's pro Mixer into 2 mono track in VDAT.
Then I can finalize my master with Creamware's stuff like Optimaster and PysyQ.
Sometimes I add my Laptop to the LAN (as VST/i client) and I can obtain 3 linked PC, with more realtime power. But rarely, only for huge mix... with my gigabit switch I can link up to 5 pc!!!
This system is well and easy tuned, both with CD rescue image backups. I can start my work in 2-3 mins after power on of the PCs and the external hardware.
Waves APA is a good way to fight the piracy, but it's not a new idea. I think that FX Teleport is a better chioce for Scope's communuty.
- As second pc for synth, a cheap TUSL 1GHZ is powerful enought
(secondhand 250 euros)
- The PCs are controlled with a cheap KMV box. (50-80 euros)
- FX Teleport (79 euros)
That's all!

I have even bought the FX Teleport and Apulsoft Wormhole.
The waves plugs runs on the apa as long as they are "authorized" to the machine they are installed on.
So, the apa is just running them (the code), and returning "audio" to the netshell (in the host).
Remember I thought a similar system would be great for CW Scope?
I hope for CW to see the light on this issue....

I use the SCOPE synths in SCOPE 4.5 OS enviroment and not in FX Teleport XTC configuration. Is something like to have an external midi device, but the audio from the synth comes throught the ADAT optical cable instead analog in.
I use with FX Teleport only for my other VSTi native synths, that works in parallel with SCOPE OS because FX Teleport not requires audio cards, so: no conflict between SCOPE OS and FX Teleport
I tweak the latency, of incoming audio from SCOPE synths, manually, after the recording.
