Hi,

I bought the 4.5 Update and was given a couple of links. To download the 4.5 Software I was given an ftp link. So there were just a couple of folders that I copied and pasted. I assume that is OK or normal, is it?

But more strangely the link I got to my allkeys.skf was weird! It wasn't actually a key file at all, which is what I expected, so that I could just import it when I install. Instead it was a page with a bunch of numbers on it and loads of numbers!! Typing them in by hand would be a real hassle!! Is this what other people got or did you get the same as me a page with just a bunch of serial numbers?

Thanks

usually you get the updated allkeyfile attached. Make sure that your system did not simply delete it.

you can email ralf again (rb@creamware.de) with your SN and request that he emails you the updated allkey file again.

Also you can load your existing allkey file and simply copy and paste the extra key codes.

This is exatcly your allkeys file. Just save into your computer and import in SFP.

If your browser opened the allkeys as a text file, save it to your HD as allkeys.skf
The Scope 4.5 installer will use this.

I seem to be only able to save it as a text file. Is that OK? Or should it be in a different file format and if so how do I convert it as a .skf file? I tried renaming and saving it as an skf file but it still stays in text file format in notepad.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies so far!! But how do I rename it manually and not from within a text file DJMicron? It seems to always default to a text file. Excuse my ignorance!

Thanks

assuming you have a PC, right click the file, choose rename and change the file extension from .txt to .skf

I'm glad I read this thread though, I wasn't sure what to do with the text that came up where I was expecting a skf file, I was thinking fk I am going to have to copy and paste every single key..

glad it now looks like I don't

Thanks Iskra. I already did that before, even though the file extension is .skf, it still looks like a text document to me. Is it meant to still look like a text document?

And, to ask my question again that was in first post starting this thread, is this what other people got, a page with just a bunch of serial numbers that you had to rename to an .skf file from a text file?

And, To download the 4.5 Software I was given an ftp link. So there were just a couple of folders that I copied and pasted. I assume that is OK or normal, is it?

Thanks

Yes, .skf have always been text files. I have them going back to Pulsar 1.0 software, and back then they were text files too. Specially-formatted text files for sure, but still text files, it's perfectly normal and it's been this way for years now. Just save the page you got as a text file, change the extension to .skf, and it'll be fine. I upgraded to 4.5, got the same thing you got, saved it, installed it, everything works fine.

As for the software itself, just go on the FTP and get the scope_4_5_install.zip file, unzip it, and install it like you would install any other Pulsar/SFP version. You could also just skip the install and just copy the plugins if you don't want to go thru the whole hassle of re-installing SFP (don't forget to backup your current installation before you do a full re-install.)

Thanks Symbiote (and everyone else who has responded).

As my other previous allkeys.sfk didn't look like standard text files, I was concerned that maybe something was not right. As yet I haven't installed Scope 4.5 so I haven't tested to see if my new .sfk file works (the one that I have renamed from a txt file). I'll try it tomorrow if I have time. No doubt if it doesn't work, I'll post another thread.

Once again thanks for all the replies! Much appreciated!!

I understand what you mean,I first thouht what is he on about? allkeys files are always textfiles. today I upgraded my other system, and the first time I've upgraded I put the link in my browser and I get the option: to download it. now I do excactly the same and the browser just opens the allkeys file as a textfile. now you can offcourse save that file but only as html file.
so what you can do to copy and past the text in a new textfile and then rename it as allkeys.sfk

Hi Atomic,

If you can, just send me the link and me, as a Mac user, I can prepare you a working allkeys.skf from it sending you this zipped.

Of course don't be afraid of sending me it as the keys are board dependand so they are useless for me.

Check your PM for my e-mail address.

Cheers

Actually, in FireFox you have the option to save as html or text. IE has that option too. It's in the save-file/save-page-as dialog.

Again thanks to everyone who has responded!!

Samplaire, thanks for your very kind offer. I received your PM. Creamware very kindly sent me an allkeys.skf file (the type I am familiar with by the way) today. As yet I haven't had time to install 4.5 and try it, but I have faith that it will work. If it doesn't, I will let you know.

Finally, let me say that the people on the PlanetZ forum are an extremely helpful bunch!! I belong to other forums depending on the music gear I own and the atmosphere here is much friendlier and helpful. I see very little bickering here, if at all. This place is a fine example of how a forum should be!!

If it looks like a text file to you, you have to enable filename extensions in windows. Open up My Computer. Click Tools > Folder Options. Go to the View tab, and UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known file types".

Now rename your file to allkeys.skf
