Hi there frinds.

At this very moment, about 5 in the afternoon here in Chile, we are voting for a new president. It is an important moment.

The posibilities are between Piñera, a conservative-right, and Bachellet, socialist and follower of the Prime Minister Ricardo Lagos.

If Michele Bachellet is elected, it would the THE FIRST WOMAN to be president in South America, that would we a great revolution

Cheers

There's a hell of a difference between conservatives and socialists, Arkadin.

Michelle Bachelet raised up to be, actually and confirmed, the first prime minister in South America. The conservative party lead by Piñera, it was quite bend to the old Pinochet ideas, and people despite all the sufferings and tragedies suffered here in the seventies, incredibly continued voting this party. Fortunately for the country and its people, Michelle Bachelet was the elected president. I have to say that she herself, was one of the thousands of victims, she suffered torture and imprisonment in times of general Pinochet. His father was killed as well as some friends. Definitely, she is going to mark a great difference here. I just hope that a better economy also comes to the country, as despite the fact it is evolving positively, it is still a poor, underdeveloped country to say the least.

Can you believe that there are still people in the countryside, very much isolated, that had never seen television, a film or know about internet? This is a long country, and there are quite difficult areas to access, and those areas are of course, the ones poorest people inhabit. This is not fairy tell, it really is like being in an Indiana film to some extent, as you’ll find still amazing paradises completely virgin, with the most pure air, water and people you have dreamt off.

As you can read from my words, there is a double way to see it, in a way it is so beautiful because much of the country have not been spoiled by modern civilization, and in the other hand, you have a tremendous delay in wellbeing in terms of medicine, communication, health prevention and culture.

I think no man on earth would not like the countryside here, it is so, but so beautiful that it takes your breath off.

Then you have “Santiago”, a place that in certain corners looks like Chicago, Los Angeles, or the most beautiful towns in UK. You cannot but ask to yourself in amazement, ¿what the hell is this? How is it possible that a country is divided in such a tremendous way? But this is the reality here, rich people are extremely reach, and poor people are extremely poor. The difference is among the greatest in the entire world.

Chile is the only country in the world where hundreds of owners and businessmen earn monthly 100 times more than what their employees receive! The difference is outrageous!

This differences and problems have been anyway changing, slowly but changing, since socialism started to govern the country. President Ricardo Lagos has been a fantastic man of great integrity I have to say, and people here should be proud to have had one of the best presidents ever in South America. For the first time a country from this side of the world, has what seems to be a real economical and social stability that respects citizens, I am Argentinean, so believe me, I know what I am talking about. This makes such a difference.

Thanks for your good wishes!
