KORE - The Universal Sound Platform
KORE will revolutionize the way you produce and perform.
This groundbreaking new product is a universal sound
platform and performance environment for studio producers
and live musicians. As the world's first of its kind, it
integrates all your software instruments and effects into
a single, unified interface. KORE gives you total control
of your sound and instant, hands-on access with a real

It seems to me that it doesn't run the vst in the hardware, there is simply an app that will load as a plugin or standalone and "Host" (provide access) to NI plugins and presets. The hardware device works with this to 'enable easy recall of presets across plugins' etc. Oh, it has 8 knobs and audio i/o apparently:

It will make interesting reading in the music magazines. "Touch-sensitive knobs" seems like a great feature. My knob is *very* touch sensitive lol.

"KORE will revolutionize the way you produce and perform."
Yes, no i can finally control sound with KNOBS!
seriously, for live performance, can anyone please tell me how this differ (in a good way) from firing up your sequencer (or SCOPE project for that matter) onstage containing the data u need to assign the needed CC's to your favourite midi controller? as far as i can see u still need the PC /mac for hosting the actual plugin.
also note that this device comes preloaded with the complete PRESET LIST of the komplete 3 package. it doesnt say what DEVICES are included.
as far as i can see, we are talking about a remote controller with 8 rotarys, 8 push buttons and a transport controller (jogwheel, transport buttons, a rather useful led display i must admit). and (according to the screenshots i saw) an interface stripped to fit live use.
i actually cant see how this revolutionize anything. i cant see myself throwing my sac-2k out the window, nor can i see any reason why people should ditcth their behringers.

looks like they extend their 'guitar-rig' type range of products - it might revolutionize the registration process, tho
cheers, tom

I thought this was something very much like the Muse "Receptor" hardware unit. With that you load VSTis into it and play it back though a host or live...

Nope its a control surface and software frontend for NI plugin presets that gives 8 controls and the ability to keymap the plugins, etc. Aside from the hardware surface this reminds me of Combinator for Reason.
They seem to also be making a big deal out of their new "Universal Sound Platform" concept.

I thought in Spirits way, too.
Well it looks like a big hat for your instruments and effects only.
Sure with KORE you can take a sound from this synth and layer it with another sound in an easier way. But it is not a real revolution.
I know where my or sounds are, or what synth to use to get a wanted character sound.
Somehow this all reminds me on another standard, maybe Genaral Midi XXL, sort by attributs you add to your sounds.
Let´s see what they mean with great live peformances.

forte has already provided this....and chainer without having to commit yourself to a specific midi controller

Personally I think Bidule or energyXT (or various linux solutions) would achieve FAR more interesting results, although certainly not so much for the 'preset friendly' crowd.

Ok it does seem as if the knobs will be higher res than just midi, and have some sort of OLED feedback going on. Here's a larger overview than I've so far seen elsewhere:

It stores just the patches but not the actual sounds which would take gigabytes of storage. If it was a stand alone player I would buy it. I don't know what they mean when they say it is a "host".

Host = generic term for a program that runs plugins. It can be a sequencer, modular environment like bidule/energyxt or player/mixer app like DSound/Spinaudio offerings.

well, then its not a host.
what it is is prolly more of a hardware interface with a memory stick for presets, and a dongle for whatever-they-call-their-preset-interface.

If you use NI products and you are in the market for a controller and it is a good price then I guess this thing would make sense. I don't think I'll be buying this unless I suddenly have a lot of money to spend.

the price, concidering what it offers , should not be higher that $189 or something in that area. it HAS got highres knobs, allthough i have no idea how standard midi devs will respond to it.
However, i still dont see what it has to offer that wont be available via a behringer and a "USB-pen", in combination with your sequencer or HOST of choice.

I predict $299.

i also predict a version with 16 knobs and a version with 8 faders and 8 knobs. so there u have it, the whole series

smart Idea, I had for a while. What it needs in addition besides a well working database are some facitlities like an arpeggiatorand so on - and a control for quickly decreasing the voices, to avoid cpu overload.
