My system isn't clocking to 48k anymore. Wether I change it to Master or Slave, my mousepointer keeps changing between the arrow and the hourglass. The LED indication in the system settings shows 48k and my A16's perfectly follow and lock at 48k, but the Scope software doesn't seem to accept it (even with an empty project). All the other samplerates (including 96 kHz!) work fine.

I pulled out my boards (2 Scopes and 1 Pulsar 2 ), cleaned the contacts and refitted the whole system again. But no luck yet. Anybody experiences? Drives me nuts...

Maybe a silly thought, but you didn't mention other hardware that needs sync'ing: Have you tried swapping the Master/Slave in the chain?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I switched my A16 to Master. Slaving to 44.1 is no problem, but 48 kHz is messed-up.

I'm beginning to think something's wrong with my Z-Link board. When I install only one of my three boards, the system works fine. My two Scope Professional boards together, equipped with with standard ADAT boards also work flawlesly, but as soon as I install my Pulsar card equipped with a Z-Link board I get this strange sync problem. Strange though that it works fine on it's own.

Well, I'm going to swap my Z-Link board in order to see if that's causing my problems.

I think I solved my problem. And for those who experience likewise problems, here might be the awnser: COOLING.

My system hosts three Pulsar boards and together with a UAD-1 card and the heat of the CPU, videocard, HD's etc... etc... my PC ran really hot. I already had the top removed from the 19" case and put two extra casing fans in it, but for the pulsar cards it just wasn't enough. Mainly the two boards that where placed next to each other were still too hot. Working in 44.1 kHz hasn't been a problem, but switching to 48 caused sync problems resulting in a system that continously was seeking for clock reference. A third colling fan directly above the two PCI boards cured my dissease.

I read in a couple of threads that people were having strange phenomenons, especially when the system was on for a couple of hours. My advice: three cooling fans a day, keep PC doctors away.
