I am looking for external converter for exteranl synths and mic recording.After long looking this 3 devices looks interesting for me.
1.Lynx Aurora
2.RME ADI-8 DS
3.Creamware A16 ultra

so what is best for using with Scope?
I know theese are realy different devices expacialy in cost.But it must be better then audio mixer i hope.Maybe I dont realy need ultra mastering quility but synths must be heared as they are.

I think all these choices are interesting. I am using a lucid ada-8824, 8 in-out, it goes up to 24 bit-48khz. Very good machine, not too expensive either, I am very happy with it.

I have 2496 - sounds great, works great, but if u need pro equipement, than take A16 ULTRA. It has great SNR, a bunch of balanced IOs, 96KHz 24 bits ...

And I have one question too. What does the small IR RECIVING led or whatever it is ( darkblue round diode ) doing on my a2496 ?
Is it decorative or has some function ?

yep a16 ultra is very good for price.Best of all i guess +z-link interface to my scope.Its much cheaply for 16 chanel ad/da then you pay about 3000$ for 8 chanel aurora...

if you own allready a creamware-card with 2 zlink interfaces, i would go for the a16 ultra. i'm very happy with mine...

if not, i would go for the rme. in my ears, the rme sounds better than the a16 ultra, smoother, less digital, can't explain... but don't forget, you get only 8 channels while a16 ultra comes with 16...

yep thats a problem -i havent Z-link and its better 16 channel then 8 and i need better sound qulity =).I think about rme fireface also.For using it like audiointerface in MAC.And connect via ADAT to scope on PC like a converter.Dunno is this good way or not.But as i know new MAC platfroms dont wokrs good with Creamware devices.

you could also hook up the a16 ultra converter via adat. the advantage of zlink is that all 16 Channels work simultaneously with 24bits/96khz. But if you need 44.1khz, adat will be fine...

i think for most applications, a16 Ultra will be fine. the difference is not as big for electronic stuff. you may could hear the difference when recording some stuff with high dynamics, like an orchester or accoustic instruments. I think a good mikrophone and of course microphone technique makes more difference than else ad-converter you could buy...

yeah.It can be with ADAT but i think its better got a reserve of abilities (like 96khz recording with z-link)than not,particularly z-link options costs 100 euro as i know.

people i realy need help.
Tell me - there is no way to use scope with g5 quad and logic?I already imagine some schemes with "pc-zlink-a16-adat-rme fireface-mac" but something promt to me that it is a full crap.
Targets i need
1.Scope FX's on my hardware synths in realy time and routing them per channel to Logic.
2.Mixing all tracks on logic - in a Stm48.
Am istupid?

There's no way you can currently run Scope on a Quad Mac. Even if you rigged up a PCIe->PCI Magma chassis, there is simply no Scope driver+software for OSX.

By the way, the A16 is amazing for the price. It has ADAT as well as z-link so you can use it with any ADAT-equipped audio hardware. It also has wordclock and can be master or slave (very useful).

sure you can use scope with the G5.....in another computer connected to the G5 via adat......

so if i route synthesysers to a16 - make FX on them - and then i can route them per channel via adat to RME ? Or only MIX of them via STMixer

you can route then where you want, adat, or analog out, using STMs mixers, or all of this togheter...

You can route ADAT ins directly to ADAT outs if you want. If you go down that route & happen to drop some sneaky Scope FX inline with some of the ADAT channels, you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever. (in theory)

You can also use an STM mixer as a routing tool for processing without mixing the signals by using direct outs on the STM mixers. That's the preferred method for multitracking & the same would apply if you were sending the signals in & out of Scope via some FX & on to a MAC via ADAT. (in theory)
