I'm interested in buying one of EarlyFirst reverbs, but somehow I cannot reach him. His website http://www.innerverse.com/earlyfirst/default.asp is still online, but the Purchase page is outdated and his emailaddress doesn't excist anymore.

Who knows where to find Paul alias EarlyFirst?

EarlyFirst last posted PlanetZ on 2005-04-11 13:05.

I must have missed some of his stuff (it seems to have been kept secret).

Its worth checking his website he has some good free stuff there as well as demos of his smooth reverbs.

well, Paul Tanti (aka Earlyfirst) experienced the usual (commercial) SFP developer problem - not enough sales to make a living.
For some time he was CWA's tech support in the US, you might imagine what that means for spare time...

Anyway, his reverbs were (are still) excellent (I have one of his 2016s)

Aries, since you're making your own experiences with SDK currently, you may be interested in the fact that Paul did ALL his stuff with standard Scope atoms.
He once mentioned it himself when people suspected he used 'special tricks' or own DSP code.

Nevertheless there is a serious problem with the GUI handling in Paul's devices that might show up in your own work as well, once it evolves further.

While the parameter setup for the single reflections is certainly correct and precise, it's a pain to deal with a dozen or more knobs to change the room character.
There is a Princeton 2016 VSTi that solves this effectively with just 4 dials (if I remember right).

So my suggestion would be to find a way to avoid the 'multiple single event setup', for example by a hidden table, where the dial progresses through rows of (say) 12 precalculated value pairs.
Or use a graphic representation like a curve or whatever.

The 'standard' way would just end in people asking for more presets, as noone will want to spend the time setting things up correctly - at least I never did with Paul's 2016

cheers, Tom

Astroman, are you saying that EarlyFirst isn't selling anymore? Because I think these reverbs (especially the bigger ones) are wonderful. I'm not quite shure which one to choose, but I definately want to buy one. I just don't know where to find the guy...

Booster why not send EarlyFirst a PM, as he might visit PlanetZ from time to time.

Now why didn't I think of that... I assumed PM's were linked to an emailaddres, but they're not. Thanks Aries!
