Transient Killa Bundle (free devices)

Post by djmicron »

The free device version,
mono and stereo devices.

This device is intended for drums, single shots and drum loops, but i've obtained interesting and crazy results on basses, synth lines and vocals too.

I'll post audio examples and manual very soon.

For best results, it's very important to experiment with the input gain, this will not affect the volume, but the input sensitivity.

I've checked this device under scope 3.1/4.0/4.5, the only issue i've found is under 3.1 when assigning controllers from controllers list (scope freezes), no problems under 4.0/4.5.

I'm working on a stereo version with single channels controls.

Thanks

Salvatore

corrected the "length" spelling

Thanks, nice effort  Haven't tried it yet but looking forward to. I have the SPL device so it will be interesting to compare.

Small GUI bug report - Length is the correct spellling

Hi,
Thanks alot !
I tried it as insert on a stereo module and I get interrupted audio !
You know chopped audio like machine gun thing.
I amusing the highest Asio buffer.

Cool, thanks!!!
This is one of my prefered device.
It works ok on XTC as insert in Cubase SX3. (only a strange graphic behavior: the presets list looks as plugin with margin and the interface looks without classic "windows" margin around).
Could be interesting if anyone whit the SPL Transient Designer makes a comparative review with MP3 examples.
Anyway, for me, This device rocks!

Thanks, DjMicron

It sounds excellent as a mono insert on an Adern Kick_Me. Don't know if it's meant to sound like this, but I'm getting some wild sort of bit reduced sound or diode clipping or both. It sounds crazy

Couple of points:- The stereo version doesn't seem to work as a stereo master insert, as the audio gets chopped up as described by someone else (same thing happened for me on an STM2448). Another point is that the dry/wet fader doesn't throw properly (you can't move it from top to bottom in 1 throw) The only other thing I wanted to say is that it's HUGE

Hope you don't mind constructive critisism
cheers

Hi again,
I tried all possible ways of using transient.
Either as standalone mono and stereo device, as mono insert inside a mixer or stereo insert inside a master device.
Always chopped audio.
I tried all ULLI settings.
Is there any needed dps's I don't have ?
I suppose we don't need Flexor for the standalone, right ?
I am anxious to make this work as I have SPL transient and attacker to compare !!

thanks to all for checking the device and for constructive criticism,
it does not need any optional licences,
i've tried it on 2 different systems,
one system runs with 1 pulsar2 + 2x 15dsp scope srb (36 dsp total),
the other system runs with 1 powersampler card + pulsar 1 (7 dsp total) and i've not encountered problems @ 4 ms ulli latency and 44.100 hz of sampling rate on win xp sp2.
About chopped audio, this should be the behavior of transient killa, but i don't know how this chopped effect sounds on your system, so, it could depend by the settings of the device, or it could be a bug on certain hardware and tomorrow i'll test it on another system running on 1 "pulsar 2" to be sure, but in the meantime, try to set the sustain volume to zero and do some experiment with the attack lenght and input gain (to make this test, it's better to use a looped funky hip hop groove).
About comparisons with transient designer, the transient killa device is a little different one, it sounds less clean and more dirty and it uses 2 different engines for attack and sustain and it gives you control over the envelope lenght and the input sensitivity, in this way, it can be useful to remove parts of drum loops in realtime by setting the sustain volume to zero and working on the attack settings.
This device is under development and all constructive criticism is well accepted.

Stay tuned for audio demos and presets and manual.
p.s for who is encountering bugs or problems, please write your os and hardware configuration.
Thanks

i've done my first test under xtc and i've encountered the same issue of eminardi, i'll try to fix it, but in the meantime, it looks in the right way if used from the multi fx.

Thanks

Hello,
Do you mean that chopped audio is the behaviour of transient killer thus when you put wet only there is always a chopped audio ??
If so I don't see any direct comparisons with transient designer and I don't see what it can be used for.
As a Pulsar user I thank you for any efforts towards free devices only critisims may be allowed in the shake of improvement, right ?

the transient killa needs to receive short transient audio material, so, if you try it on large pads, it does not work in a good way.
The primary goal of transient killa is to process single shot drums or looped drum grooves.

thanks

Cool! A video teaser/manual is a very good idea

Transien killa, now, seems to be almost complete... but, IMO, I think that a variable envelope shape graphic (like in SPL Transient Designer) could be a great tool for display & understand what really happens for every knob tweaking.
The only problem is that without a proper SDK manual this mod is very hard to do!!!
Howewer this is one of a greatest & powerful free fx available for Scope... I'm now very addict!

are you certain that this combo needs transient processing at all ?

Fire Kickme through it Tom. You'll hear that T-killa is doing more than you'd expect from a transient processor. It can *dramatically* alter the source material, giving drums a really weird sound. Fantastic for anyone making electronic breaks no matter how they decide to use it.
