Hi everybody.

I have now 3 scoop pro cards and want to know if its possible to link more of them (7-13)for example.

In the manual there is a hind of it,first its stated 'you can add maximum 3 cards' next they say 'if you want to add annother card and you have already 3,contact us'

Have somebody here more as 3 cards in one DAW?

TIA

i remember i read something like "if you want to use more than 3 cards in one computer, contact us" in the manual, so maybe you would like to ask creamware...

a friend of mine in France who uses scopes in his studio (he throw pro tools few months ago ...) has told me that he has already seen 4 creamware cards.... Of course the stdm cable must be modified. Althouh creamware prefers to discourage a risky creamware system (more than 3), it seems to be possible though...

Good luck !

If I remember well, once I've read that Hans Zimmer worked with a custom system with more than 3 boards.

AFAIK, Hans Zimmer's Scope system is a farm of PC's with each 3 Scope Pro cards. Best would be to wait on a reply from CW support...

Hi,

Creamware gives warranty for well function of three cards in one system.
Here in my supportjob i heard often, that people have 4 cards running succesfully in one system, but i have never checked this for my own.

cheers

I have phoned with ralf this morning,he have told me they excist custom connectors for 4 cards, but also you can use the 3-connector cables and use them crossed!

I think i will try that very soon...

It is very easy to modify the STDM cables. I have done this myself - not to put more cards in one PC, but to not have the big loop on them (my home made "case" just barely big enough for the system). You just open the cable connector by pulling the small thingies on the side and sliding the top part off. Then you have a spare connector, wich you can put on another piece of the same cable - or, I guess, use on another cable. It is very easy to fit the connector on the right position of the cable. You do have to use force though, so be sure to push the top part straight down.

Are you sure you prefer cascading more than 3 cards in one system, above using 2 computers (2 x 3 cards) and link them together through e.g. ADAT?
Seems like a big risk, but I wish you good luck. I hope you don't smoke the cards like this

i don't think it is risky for the cards. It is just a stability risk i suppose. Hey man let us know if it works with 4 scope pro... and do not forget to cool your computer...

Ah okay, if it's not risky for the cards, it's worth a try. Good luck Somax

I'd estimate it will work rather good with a few 'monster' devices at high poly, but not with countless modules.
There's an administration overhead, that can become significant.

cheers, tom
I'd also go for it - just to prove it can be done

Yes im gonna try it,Ralf told setups with 4 excists and reported to work, stacking more in theory should be possible he answerd to my question.

Im would like to build a killaZ 15+ GFlops DSP combat system.

If 4 cards work i buy 1 more,if 5 works i buy one more etc...

Stability is importand,so a dedicated chassis is needed,
But can somebody tell me what for bus speed i have to go on the Magma range?

TIA

Hi

forget the magma chassis. i think you will never be able to use all your dsp power with the magma, the pci capacity is more or less 50% of a standard pci (a cheap dell in my case).

do a search and you'll find my thread about this. magma works best with one 15dsp card. more isn't usefull, at least for me. I need a lot of pci capacity as i use 24 to 30 ASIO2-24 IN and OUT modules and of course the pci-hungry P100/A100...

I have no exp. with building a Scope-DAW with server technology (motherboard with loads of pci slots etc.), but someone else may have... just an idea...

greez and report your 4 card project!

Hi,

I'd definetly suggest you to look for a server-class motherboard with many PCI slots (I've sawn some with more than 6).
IMHO it will be far mor stable and performant.

Good luck!
