Hi, I am saving up for a professional card and am on an AMD athlon 64 3800+ with a VIA chipset. Yeah, I know. VIA improved their gig with audio a few years back and I switched from the NForce boards that were "required" to go against the grain, so to speak.

Anyways, I want to swap my processor out for a dualcore 4400+ sometime soon. I really have been very much an AMD person yet I see that this may be a conflict with Scope cards.

Can people post their specs? Any AMD dualcore users out there doing okay? Anyone have success with VIA? AMD singlecore? I really don't want to rip this computer to shreds. I bet the mobo will sell for $10 on ebay.

Here's my specs...

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice
ABIT AV8 Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro
Thermaltake Volcano Silent Boost +arctic 5
1GB pqi TURBO DDR400
eVGA geforce 5500 256mb AGP

Core 2 Duo works as well as P4's, but really jumps up in the Giga, VST stuff. I am not sure if the 4MB of L2 cache has anything to do with it, but I get more instances of GigaPulse, and can load serious VST FX such as Blue Tubes. GS3 hosts my VST stuff w/o trouble now. SFP / Giga is old news, but it is stable and sounds great as 24bit now.
