RAM requirements

Man, I'm just a happy little poster today.

Lots of questions I suppose.

Actually, I just sold a piece of property, and the funds went through today.

So tomorrow I'm off to shop for computer parts to build a PC DAW.

Question:

To work comfortably (trouble free) in a Scope 4.5 Project / Samplitude setup with quite a few Native Plugins (for now until I see what Scope can do)

How much RAM is enough?

How much RAM is too much?

Any recommendations as to what RAM to install?

On garyb's recommendation, I'm likely to be going with the 6600 conroe(core2) processor based around the intel d965ryck motherboard.

Any & all suggestions welcome.

unless you're using big streaming sample banks, 1gb is probably enough. at any rate, 2gb will likely be the most you can really use.

I thank you kind Sir ....

Your advice is always appreciated.

Cheers.

PS- So there are no real benefits above 2Gb, or would I just be asking for problems?

probably no problems, just no applications that can use it, nor reason for them to use it.

You can never have enough RAM :-)

My system's got 1.5GB in it at the moment. I think I'm running PC2700 (333MHz) stuff as my MOBO's a few years old now..

What's that?
Do you mean Intel DG965RY?

Oh yes. It took a little time and effort but I found it.

There is really such an animal:

"Product update notification
Product: BLKDG965RYCK".
Lowest Price 108 euros.

That's it :D
