SATTEQ - VERSION 1

Post by MCCY »

Just to have a first look on what will come:
Design is not finished and I even did not take the best one out of pixelbites proposals... I just couldn't resist to post this first impression.

Martin

P.S. don't forget to TURN ON the SAT-functions!!!!!!

BUGFIXES:
- beta 0.2 pitch settings now possible
- could not reproduce preset-problems. Rebuild your presets. Should work now.

Looks beautiful, sweet work on the graphics!
It seems to be very intuitive. I'll try it tomorrow,
THANKS! :-)

Very nice design... hey, why not share the unused graphic elements with us (SDK developers)?
Ask to pixelbites if this is possible.
Good work. Thanks =)
4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.

Hey Martin, you really got graphics and sound tools together now.....
(schaut grafisch echt super genial aus)
looks nice and sounds nice....

but the mov eq still is the much more flexible distortion unit, because it has many bands.... and this one only one...

:) thanks for this nice gimmick!

SATEQ_07 with insert

Post by MCCY »

Again, I couldn't resist... Sorry Shroomz, but this device needs an insert...
I tried it with a compressor, reverb ... man, I got the most weired sounds (which really make sense for pumping up a mix...)

So simple it is, this device is awsome!

its an absolut beast, without pitch it is a nice distortion fx and with pitch its a wired sound designer fx plug-in....

I will post an acid style sat-EQ disorted 303 demo track in music area....

edit:
here it is:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20591

have a look...

PS: the insert is fantastic !!!! the insert does only effect the wet boost signal, is this right MC?

best regards

Check your email Martin. You've got some new graphics for this.

Good idea adding the insert !!

Martin,

a 3-band version of this would be interesting, especially if the bands were in parallel instead of the traditional series circuit & there was drive, pitch, sat & inserts (for delays etc) per band. It could be called SATEQ+. :)

I know, you could just use 3 of these to achieve that, but it wouldn't be quite the same.

Sorry, my time is still very rare - but updates will follow.
B.t.w. MOVEQ - delay has nothing to do with my time. I myself wonder why it takes so long.

I also thought of a multiband version when playing with the oneband version.

The question would be if there should be 2 crossover frequencies for the independent bands that complement each other.
Or totally independent bands like for example the MOV_EQ has.

also a dry / wet fader per band would be great.

a multiband version def. is a must.

Yes, you mentioned that in Martin's original SATEQ thread. (if I'm not mistaken)

oh, I may have forgotten this already.

I have to say this SAT_EQ really has become my favorite distortion for the moment. I really like it`s sound.

and I think the results on the acid demo I`ve posted are really convincing.
At least thats what I am thinking.

I have to add following:

most settings save perfect on this plug-in, but I already saved a preset that crashed my system when loading the track again....
I`m sure this is due to the fact that it is beta.
Just wanna give you the information.... :)

Thanks for comments, wishes, and bug-report!

A multiband will be hard to realize, cause it will soon become too big (As it becomes very quickly with loaded insert too). All the processing has to be done on one DSP so that phase-problems (yes, allways the same thing) do not become audible!
- Maybe 2 bands will be possible (PARALLELL!).
- Using the pitching knob seems to prevent ugly phase-problems (= nice workaround for some situations)

I will look into the preset-crash. It could maybe be repaired just by deleting the old presets and making a new library, but I have to look into it (I had no crash so far, but small bugs in preset-settings lead likely to such problems) - sorry for that!

Ive got nothing to add really, just wanted to show some praise for a fabulous device!

It really stands out compared to other distortion devices, and are most usuable in many places. I seldom use distortion actually, but this makes me wanna use it all over. :D
