Tape Deck - Variable Speed

Post by gainman »

A virtual tape deck where you can play a stereo file at variable speed, both fordward and backwards.

Do you know of any device like that?

I'm not sure but I recall reading some thread here in planetz where it was said that this type of thing is quite difficult to achieve in SFP. I think it referred to delays where you can change the speed of the repeats continuosly, without crackles...

Maybe in the VST world?

Yes indeed, just like certain native plugs or apps, it's been done, just not in Scope afaik (unless you count STS5000, which almost fits the bill).

(morning back btw)

Hmm, I guess so. I was thinking about a virtual tape deck rather than a virtual turntable, but it should be practically the same with respect to the desired effect.

Probably a good alternative for short pieces of audio...

REAPER has a tape-deck style transport which sounds pretty ok.
